ABOUT THE ROLE

The Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S) is currently seeking a Business Integrity Lead (m/f/d) to join the Policy and Advocacy Team. The Policy and Advocacy Team leads on the organisation’s advocacy initiatives through the development of policy and advocacy positions, representation of Transparency International at international fora and towards key stakeholders, and cooperation with TI National chapters on shared global thematic priorities. The purpose of this role is to enhance the ability of Transparency International to bring about change by promoting collective action and sound policy and advocacy to advance business integrity and support TI national chapters, contributing to advancing Transparency International’s strategic objective 4 of TI’s Global Strategy 2030 - Holding Power to Account.

The Business Integrity Lead (m/f/d) leads the strategic and operational development of TI-S programme on business integrity, drives policy and advocacy efforts and collective action initiatives in international fora, and provides expertise and support to the TI Movement.

Starting Date: as soon as possible

Contract Duration: Currently we can offer an employment contract limited for a duration of 2 years. 

Band: salary according to TI-S internal salary structure; for this position corresponding to band PF3, salary starting EUR 55,650 gross per year depending on relevant experience

Working Hours: full-time [100%; 40 hours per week]

Location: Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S), Berlin – with international travel [up to approx. 30%]

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

Based in the Policy and Advocacy team and reporting to the Head of the team, the Business Integrity Lead (m/f/d) will:

  • Lead TI-S work on business integrity and contribute to the further development and growth of TI-S work under Strategic Objective 4 of the TI Strategy 2030 – Drive Integrity in Business (SO4), identifying and prioritizing areas for growth based on potential impact, opportunities and added value;
  • Drive strategic and annual planning on business integrity and support reporting, in coordination with other TI-S colleagues contributing to SO4;
  • Provide expertise to the Secretariat, lead the implementation of projects contributing to SO4, drive the development of policy positions, advocacy initiatives and multi-stakeholder collective action, and identify opportunities to further advance TI-S objectives on business integrity;
  • Lead the implementation of business integrity-related activities in existing projects; this includes engaging with MNEs and SMEs to develop initiatives to enhance the capacity of SMEs in the context of the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), develop an independent monitoring framework to track progress of governance and anti-corruption disclosures and a policy and advocacy campaign promoting corporate transparency and reporting on governance and anti-corruption;
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues responsible for TI-S work on public resources (Strategic Objective 1 – Protect the Public’s Resources) and contribute to advocacy to include incentives for business integrity in public contracting legislation and projects;
  • Work collaboratively with other P&A colleagues in other areas of overlap between business integrity and other TI-S strategic objectives;
  • Build and strengthen relationships and expand alliances with external counterparts, communities of practice and stakeholders in the private sector, NGOs, governments and intergovernmental organisations such as UN Global Compact, World Economic Forum, B20 and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Provide expertise to the TI Movement, work collaboratively with national chapters engaged in business integrity, identify and build synergies between TI-S and national chapters’ work, and contribute to building a community of practice for knowledge exchange within the Movement;
  • Liaise with existing donors and contribute to fundraising efforts in coordination with the Development & Partnerships team, including identifying fundraising opportunities and contributing to proposals;
  • Represent TI in relevant fora, with internal and external stakeholders and media as appropriate;
  • Contribute to other projects as required

CANDIDATE PROFILE

In order to succeed in this role, candidates will need to meet the following:

  • Postgraduate university degree and/or professional qualification in business, economics, law, social science, public policy or other relevant fields;
  • 7+ years of relevant progressively responsible professional experience in the fields of policy or advocacy related to business integrity;
  • Demonstrable experience in designing collective action initiatives, advocacy strategies and engaging in policy formulation;
  • Demonstrable experience of successful engagement with the private sector;
  • Familiarity with UN Global Compact, World Economic Forum, B20 and other relevant business-focussed international initiatives;
  • Demonstrable expertise on anti-corruption, ESG, and related frameworks including at EU level:
  • Ability to engage with the business community, policy makers, government officials and CSOs;
  • Experience and comfortable with public speaking and media engagements;
  • Proven ability to provide concise, strategic policy and advocacy briefings;
