We work to ensure AAPIs are seen, heard, empowered, and united as agents of change in solidarity with other communities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications & Development Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing integrated fundraising and external communications strategies to increase our visibility, especially among new audiences. This role combines the functions of donor development and strategic communications to amplify the organization’s mission, engage supporters, and grow AAF’s reach through effective storytelling, outreach, and relationship-building. Responsibilities include the day-to-day management and monitoring of digital media, marketing, and social media channels. This position reports to the Executive Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications

  • Develop, implement, and manage AAF’s communications strategy to promote our mission and raise our visibility, especially among new audiences.
  • Collaborate with staff on editing, marketing and design to ensure content is informative and aligned.
  • Track analytics, report on performance and provide insights to improve AAF’s communications strategy
  • Social Media
    • Create, curate, and manage published content (images, video, written) across platforms like LinkedIn and Substack.
    • Monitor SEO and user engagement, suggest content optimization and respond to community interactions.
    • Stay current with the latest social media best practices, trends, and technologies to maximize reach and engagement.
    • Provide training and guidance to other team members on social media best practices.
  • Website
    • Ensure website aligns with AAF’s branding
    • Update WordPress website with new content and posts
    • Basic troubleshooting and coordination with web developers, as needed
  • Marketing
    • Create promotional materials such as AAF’s quarterly newsletter and annual report
    • Create promotional materials and write-ups to be shared via email, Substack or LinkedIn for program activities, such as food pop-ups, creator cohorts, social media campaigns and podcasts.
  • Assist with organizational outreach campaigns, as needed
  • Coordinate with program team to ensure consistent messaging, as needed

Development

  • Support the Executive Director in development efforts, including grant writing (research and drafting of proposals and reports), donor cultivation & stewardship (identifying and tracking of key donors), and database management (Temelio) to ensure integrity of fundraising reports
  • Create materials for donor engagement such as one-pagers
