About the Opportunity:The Director of Marketing leads South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) marketing strategy, ensuring consistent, compelling, and mission-driven messaging that strengthens SSC’s brand, drives enrollment, supports fundraising, and deepens community engagement. This role oversees the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns, content development, public relations, and digital strategy, working closely with SSC’s leadership team to align marketing efforts with institutional priorities.Responsibilities - Essential Functions and SkillsStrategic Marketing & Brand Management- Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive marketing strategy that supports SSC’s mission, enrollment, advancement, and community engagement goals.
- Oversee brand identity, ensuring consistent visual and narrative messaging across all platforms and materials.
- Monitor market trends, audience behavior, and competitive landscape to inform strategies.
Marketing Content Development - Lead the creation of high-quality marketing materials, including brochures, program guides, newsletters, press releases, social media content, and advertisements.
- Maintain and enhance SSC’s website, ensuring accurate, engaging, and accessible content.
- Manage SSC’s social media strategy to increase reach, engagement, and community connection.
- Coordinate photography, videography, and other media assets for promotional use.
Campaign & Program Support- Partner with contributed side of business to develop marketing strategies that support fundraising campaigns, donor events, and stewardship activities.
- Partner and collaborate with the earned side of business to promote classes, performances, and special events, ensuring timely and targeted outreach.
- Create and execute digital advertising and email marketing campaigns to drive enrollment and attendance.
Media Relations & Public Engagement- Serve as SSC’s primary media contact, cultivating relationships with press outlets and securing coverage for events and initiatives.
- Direct and distribute press releases, op-eds, and media advisories with Communications Director supporting the drafting of materials.
- Represent SSC at select community events and networking opportunities.
Leadership & Collaboration- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, and leadership team to align marketing priorities with organizational goals.
- Track and report on the performance of marketing initiatives, using data to refine strategies.
Education, Experience, and Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive marketing and communications experience, preferably in the arts, education, or nonprofit sector.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing multi-channel marketing strategies.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in website management, social media platforms, email marketing, and digital advertising.
- Experience with design tools (Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) and CRM/database systems preferred.
- Strong project management skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Collaborative, creative, and adaptable, with a passion for the arts and community engagement.
Important Information- The salary range for this position is 75-80k annually.
- This job operates in professional environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The job may require going out in the field on the South Shore of Massachusetts for other teaching and/or performance opportunities.
- This position is mostly sedentary outside of travel. This would require the ability to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending, or standing as necessary.
- Designated days and schedule will be primarily though will also be based on the needs of the operation and business, requiring some weekends, nights and early mornings.
