Your Role:
EIT is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to help maintain and improve health, safety, and environmental standards across our sites.
In this role, you will coordinate EHS programs, ensure compliance with UK health and safety regulations, and support initiatives that promote a strong safety culture throughout the organisation. Your work will be key to safeguarding our people and ensuring operational excellence.
Your Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UK health, safety, and environmental regulations across all company sites. Regularly monitor and review safety and environmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits. Identify potential hazards and provide solutions to mitigate risks. Ensure incidents, accidents, and near misses are thoroughly investigated and reported.
- Coordinate EHS training programs for staff, including inductions, site-specific training, and emergency response drills. Raise awareness of health and safety policies through regular communication and guidance.
- Lead investigations into safety incidents and near-misses. Work with site teams to implement corrective actions and ensure the effectiveness of those actions.
- Maintain and update EHS systems, records, and documentation. Ensure the accurate tracking of environmental performance and health & safety KPIs.
- Oversee environmental programs to ensure compliance with relevant environmental laws and best practices. Track and report on waste management, energy usage, and sustainability initiatives.
- Work with external agencies, such as regulatory bodies, contractors, and consultants, to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and support EHS efforts across all UK sites. Regular travel to different sites will be required to ensure consistency and best practices are being adhered to.
Requirements:
Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in an EHS or Health & Safety role within a multi-site or scientific setting. Knowledge of UK EHS regulations (e.g., HSE, COSHH, Environmental Protection Act) is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels and external stakeholders.
- Strong ability to identify potential risks and implement effective mitigation strategies. Good understanding of incident investigation methods and root cause analysis.
- Competence with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with EHS management software or reporting tools is beneficial.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation while ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Experience within a scientific, laboratory, or manufacturing environment.
- A relevant qualification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely) is required.
