We’re looking for a Deputy Finance Officer to join our Brussels-based team. This role focuses on the operational and financial management of EED’s internal costs — from procurement and budget monitoring to audit preparation and internal controls. You’ll work closely with colleagues across finance, operations and programme teams to keep things running smoothly, transparently and on time.

What You’ll Do
You’ll report to the Head of Finance and work under the guidance of senior members of the team. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Ensure Cost allocation of all expenses to the correct analytical codes. Liaise with budget holders and Resource Efficiency Manager
• Ensure cost allocation is in line with the donor contract budget and terms and conditions
• Budget line reporting to managers eg Communications, Programmes etc
• Employee costs reconciliation with balance sheet accounts
• Admin fee / overheads recording and reporting
• Support the preparation of financial and budgetary reports, as required, including for the EC and other donors
• Provide quarterly analysis of EED’s financial performance
• Provide comprehensive analysis of EED’s financial performance for end-of-year presentation for the Board and Executive Committee
• Provide financial administration including contributing to effective operational and financial procedures; carrying out compliance checks, including audit preparation
• Support and monitors MoUs
• Continue to improve processes and procedures
• Onboard and supervise junior members of the team
• Perform other relevant tasks as and when requested by the Head of Finance and the Chief Operations Officer
• Maintain confidentiality.
What You Bring
You have:
• A university degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• At least 5 years of full-time professional experience in financial management, audit or grant oversight
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other standard financial tools
• Familiarity with European Commission Financial Regulations or similar donor compliance systems
• Full professional fluency in English
