Job Synopsis: In collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Co-Director, this person will both create and distribute visual content to engage new and existing audiences with the work and mission of MCC. Examples of this include print and digital ads, marketing emails, and other resources. They will need to make strategic decisions for some projects, while also receiving and executing project requests brought to them from other departments.

Essential: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in graphic design and/or marketing.
  • At least three years of experience in electronic prepress production; and use of design tools including Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator (working on a Mac).
  • Experience in the design of online communications, magazines and fundraising materials.
  • Experience in marketing concepts and ability to deploy these in a non-profit, mission-based environment.
  • Experience creating email campaigns in Campaign Monitor or other similar email marketing services.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage multiple projects simultaneously, often working under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to work effectively with colleagues, printers and other related vendors, and to contract with and oversee the work of freelance graphic designers and illustrators.

Specific Tasks and Duties:

  • Design MCC print publications including Plain Memo, Intersections, Wall Calendar, Annual Report, Canner Times, internal office signage, displays, postcards, brochures, print ads and impact reports (other projects as assigned).
  • Design digital graphics and resources including email graphics, social graphics, ads, digital PDFs and digital versions of print resources, and other digital projects as assigned.
  • Build, send, track and evaluate email campaigns and journeys to accomplish marketing goals using Campaign Monitor.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing Co-Director on the planning and execution of marketing campaigns and the graphics/resources that accompany them.
  • Collaborate with content writers on the written aspects of the marketing/communications projects listed above.
  • As much as possible, make sure MCC’s brand is being represented correctly in pieces produced by others. Answer questions from colleagues about the brand and correct use of the logo.
  • Other duties as assigned on a temporary basis.
