The Opportunity
The Global Fund for a New Economy (GFNE) is hiring a Head of Policy to help shape and strengthen our global policy voice, partnerships, and strategic content. This is a role focused on developing high-quality policy analysis, writing major publications, building influential networks, and supporting GFNE’s presence at global convenings.
Reporting to the Chief Economist, the Head of Policy will help bring visibility and coherence to GFNE’s voice across themes such as the green transition, political economy of AI, just industrial strategies, and global governance reform.
This role is ideal for someone who brings deep policy fluency, strong writing and fundraising experience, and the ability to connect ideas to impact. The Head of Policy will work closely with the Chief Economist to lead fundraising efforts related to the Policy and Ideas portfolio, including drafting proposals, engaging directly with funders, and aligning content strategy with resource mobilization goals.

About the Role
The Head of Policy will lead cross-cutting content and engagement initiatives, collaborating with GFNE’s Chief Economist, program teams, and external partners. The role will manage GFNE’s internal and external-facing policy content, shape high-level publications, and coordinate strategic engagement across global networks.
This is one of GFNE’s most externally visible leadership roles.
Key Responsibilities
Content and Communication Leadership
- Manage GFNE’s weekly internal policy digest, synthesizing ideas, partner updates, and strategic signals.
- Draft and edit high-impact articles, memos, and long-form pieces with a clear narrative voice.
- Contribute to GFNE’s books, white papers, and reports; define our policy voice across relevant content channels.
- Develop concept notes, talking points, and publication materials to support fundraising and global convenings.
Strategic Engagement and Representation
- Represent GFNE in high-level meetings, convenings, and policy discussions across regions.
- Build and maintain policy relationships across think tanks, multilaterals, and advocacy networks.
- Drive content and engagement strategies for major events (e.g., BRICS, COP, Seville, Festival of Ideas).
Program Design and Policy Strategy
- Serve as a thought partner to the Chief Economist in shaping and advancing GFNE’s core initiatives.
- Support the design and launch of new programs (e.g., Political Economy Education Program).
- Map policy actors and emerging fields of work, especially in Latin America and Africa.
- Align internal teams on messaging, strategy, and partner coordination across policy areas.
Qualifications
- 8–10 years of experience in international policy, political economy, or social justice ecosystems.
- Strong familiarity with economic justice and just transition policy agendas, and the ability to communicate these clearly to diverse audiences, including funders.
- Proven ability to write and edit high-quality content, including articles, reports, or strategy briefs.
- Deep familiarity with both orthodox and heterodox economics, and their relevance to today’s policy debates.
- Experience developing multi-stakeholder initiatives or convenings in policy and advocacy spaces.
- Strong relationship-building skills with funders, academics, advocates, and policymakers.
- Experience working in and across Global South contexts is highly valued.
