About the Opportunity: 

The Human Resources Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) Human Resources function, helping to create a positive, supportive, and well-organized workplace. This role is ideal for an emerging HR professional who is eager to learn and grow in the field.

Reporting to the Senior Director of People and working closely with the Director of Artist Management, who oversees benefits and payroll, the HR Coordinator assists with recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and employee engagement activities. As an in-person team member, this individual plays a vital role in building trust with employees across SSC’s campuses and ensuring HR services are delivered efficiently and warmly.

Responsibilities  - Essential Functions and Skills

Employee Experience & Support

  • Serve as an approachable, reliable point of contact for employees on general HR questions, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the Senior Director of People in fostering a positive organizational culture aligned with SSC’s mission and values
  • Assist in organizing staff events, training, and recognition initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment in handling sensitive information.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Coordinate job postings, applicant tracking, and interview scheduling.
  • Assist in preparing offer letters and new hire documentation.
  • Lead onboarding logistics, including orientation schedules, workspace setup, and technology requests.
  • Ensure a welcoming and smooth experience for all new employees.

Benefits, Payroll, & Compliance

  • Partner with the Director of Artist Management to support employee benefit administration, open enrollment, and payroll processing as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and files.
  • Assist with compliance tracking, including background checks, I-9 verification, and required training documentation.
  • Support updates to the employee handbook and HR policies under guidance from the Senior Director of People.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain HR systems and data accuracy in collaboration with the Finance and Operations teams.
  • Generate HR reports, track key metrics, and support special projects and audits.
  • Provide general administrative support for the HR function and related initiatives.

Education, Experience, and Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–2 years of experience in an HR, administrative, or customer service role preferred; internship experience welcomed.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS systems a plus.
  • Positive, approachable demeanor and a genuine interest in supporting people.
  • Must be an in-person team member with the ability to work primarily from SSC’s campuses.

Important Information

  • The salary range for this position is $55-65k
  • This job operates in professional environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The job may require going out in the field on the South Shore of Massachusetts for other teaching and/or performance opportunities.
  • This position is mostly sedentary outside of travel. This would require the ability to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending, or standing as necessary. 
  • Designated days and schedule will be primarily though will also be based on the needs of the operation and business, requiring some weekends, nights and early mornings.
