About the team
Technical Team, under the Technical Services Department, provides expert guidance to implementing units on water, sanitation and hygiene interventions to ensure quality, sustainability, and compliance with standards defined by organisation. The team provides extensive support to design, implement, assess WASH interventions, and not limited to but conducting studies, research, developing technical guidelines. The team also brings innovation in climate resilient and environment friendly WASH solutions. Moreover, strategic collaboration with sector actors, academia, private sector enable the team to ensure impactful evidence-based knowledge sharing across the sector.
About the role
This role will provide critical technical expertise to ensure sustainability and resilience of WASH interventions specially water interventions and resources. S/he is expected to perform specific tasks which will contribute to specific activities or projects, focusing mostly on understanding of groundwater properties, aquifer systems, hydrodynamic systems; guiding sustainable water sourcing for drinking water supply, and protecting groundwater resources against the impacts of climate change and exploitation.
The incumbent is expected to support the country programme in conducting advanced hydrogeological assessments for developing water supply schemes, to ensure that interventions are technically sound, environmentally sustianble and socially acceptable.
In this role, you will:
Actively assist in effective delivery of project activities assigned by the Line manager/ Director of the department.
These responsibilities will be reviewed with the line manager from time to time.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Civil & Environmental Engineering from a recognized and reputable university (Bangladesh or abroad). A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in water resources management, preferably involving hydrogeological assessments, groundwater mapping, water supply scheme development, and related fieldwork. Experience in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector is considered an advantage.
