Marketing and Communications Intern

Note: this role is only open to students at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. Other applicants will not be considered.

We are seeking a Marketing and Communications Intern to work with our Communications and Resource Development Team this summer. The Marketing and Communications Intern will play a key role in developing and implementing effective communication strategies to enhance WAC visibility, impact, and engagement with diverse audiences. This role involves creating compelling content, managing social media platforms, and supporting overall brand and messaging efforts. 

  • Content Creation: Develop and curate engaging and informative content for WAC's various communication channels, including website, social media, newsletters, and press releases. 
  • Social Media Management: Oversee and manage WAC's social media accounts, ensuring consistent and impactful presence across platforms. 
  • Brand Messaging: Work to maintain and enhance WAC's brand identity, ensuring consistency in messaging and visual representation across all communications. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal teams and external partners to gather information and stories that showcase WAC's impact and initiatives. 
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies using analytics tools, providing insights for continuous improvement. 
  • Event Support: Provide communication support for WAC events, including promotional material development and event coverage. 

Duration & Schedule 

  • Start Date: Mid-to-Late May 2026 
  • Duration: 10-16 weeks 
  • Hours: 35 hours per week, full-time 
  • Work Mode: Remote with possible occasional in-person meetings if based in Ottawa or Toronto
  • Compensation: Funded through Munk Stipend 

 Required Qualifications 

  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail 
  •  Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools 
  • Experience with content management systems 
  • Basic design skills and familiarity with design software 
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Basic Adobe Creative Suite skills
