Role: Medic
Job Location: Deir Al Balah, moving through Gaza AoO
Contract: Initial 6-month period, with possibility of renewal
Reporting to: Team Leader and Operations Manager
About Us:
Since 7th October 2023, the Gaza Strip has seen intense ground fighting and aerial bombardment. The level of sustained conflict has resulted in massive displacement of the local population and damage to the vast majority of buildings in the area, with over 51 million tonnes of rubble and an anticipated EO threat hidden within that rubble. Since the start of this recent conflict HALO has been monitoring the situation and planning a response in coordination with key authorities and the UN.
The humanitarian mine action sector’s response to the recent conflict is in the early stages of development, with a huge amount of work to do. UNMAS are currently developing standard working practices (SWPs) for key activities, and as such HALO has an opportunity to lean into the establishment of an effective HMA sector in Gaza, whilst making a meaningful difference to the lives of those living in desperate circumstances across Gaza.
