The Center for Global Development (CGD) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit policy research organization in Washington, DC and London, UK that focuses on the issues and institutions that are critical to inclusive development. Through rigorous empirical research and active engagement with the global policy community, we focus on the policy intersections of low- and middle-income countries and the governments, institutions, and corporations that can be partners in delivering greater progress. The Center is seeking a Policy Fellow to join the Global Health program to support CGD’s work on lead exposure and its impacts on health and development. The Policy Fellow will play a central role in advancing CGD’s policy agenda on this issue, helping to raise the profile of lead poisoning within the international development community through research, outreach, and public engagement and serving as a key point of contact for external partners. CGD’s work on lead exposure focuses on identifying practical, evidence-based solutions to reduce lead poisoning in low- and middle-income countries, where it remains a major but under-addressed threat to health and development. Our researchers bring deep expertise on the issue and work across disciplines to understand the policy levers most likely to drive progress. CGD also plays a central convening role in the lead policy space. We host regular public events, annual conferences, and monthly coordination calls that bring together researchers, implementers, multilateral agencies, and funders. In addition, we manage a portfolio of externally led research projects on lead exposure, supporting and guiding work across multiple countries and disciplines. Through these efforts, we aim to raise the profile of lead poisoning on the global development agenda and drive concrete policy change. The Policy Fellow’s principal responsibilities will include: - Lead or support planning and execution of high-profile policy engagement activities, including side-events at international conferences and hosting conferences at CGD.
