🧑‍💻 Product at Nila

We're building Nila to help families across the world care for their loved ones back home. We’ve seen strong early demand, and now we need a thoughtful, fast-moving designer to help us bring our product to life.

As the first Product Designer at Nila, your job is simple: build intuitive, elegant, and empathetic user experiences for families abroad and caregivers in India. You’ll work directly with our engineers and founders to take ideas from idea  to shipped, someone who can help us turn Nila into a product families love and caregivers trust.

This is a high-impact, high-ownership role. You’ll shape how our product looks and feels, define our design system, and make critical UX decisions that affect real people. You’ll also play a key role in shaping our product culture from day one.

If you care deeply about users, like moving fast, and want to build something meaningful from the ground up, this is for you.

🛠️ What You’ll Do

  • Own the end-to-end design process: research, wireframe, prototype, test, and ship
  • Craft intuitive, empathetic experiences for both diaspora families and caregivers in India
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to bring features to life quickly and beautifully
  • Create and maintain a scalable design system across web and mobile - mechanising the design to engineering process and removing decision fatigue for engineers building front ends.
  • Obsess over usability, simplicity, and clarity in every user flow
  • Use data, feedback, and instinct to iterate fast and improve UX
  • Work with Growth to test and refine onboarding, conversion, and engagement flows
  • Help shape Nila’s visual identity and design culture from the ground up

🔍What We’re Looking For

  • A top tier product designer in your peer group - fast, thoughtful, resourceful and driven to create delightful experiences for users of your products
  • Technical excellence in your preferred design technology stack, and the ability to recommend tools that improve collaboration, iteration for the design to engineering process.
  • Passion for testing hypotheses, A/B experimentation, and iterating toward better conversion
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments and love turning ambiguity into clarity
  • You care deeply about users and design with empathy, not just polish
  • You’re a crisp communicator and collaborate well with engineers and non-designers alike
  • You’re comfortable designing for cross-cultural contexts — especially South Asian families
  • You’re hungry for ownership, growth, and building from 0→1
  • (Bonus) You’ve designed for healthcare, fintech, or other trust-heavy experiences
  • (Bonus) You’ve worked at an early-stage startup or built something from scratch
  • (Bonus) You’ve supported aging family members and connect with our mission personally
  • (Bonus) You’re strong in UX and product design, but equally comfortable with broader design tasks and supporting marketing and adjacent teams too.

🎁 What We Offer

  • A meaningful role in a mission-led startup
  • Competitive salary with equity options
  • A small team that moves fast, supports each other, and celebrates wins
  • Opportunity to shape the technology and culture of a mission-driven startup.
  • Flexible working environment.
  • Collaborative, supportive team culture
  • Chance to make a tangible social impact on diaspora families worldwide.
