Location: Remote, Kenya
Salary: $26,000 to $32,000 p.a. Full-time equivalent, dependent on experience
Basis: Permanent, Full-time, part-time or flexible
Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in Kenya

The role

Working closely with the Country Manager, Kenya you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of computing education partnerships and programmes in school and community settings. This includes:

  • Code Clubs: We have a network of over 50 mission-aligned non-profit partners in 43 countries that set up and run free coding clubs to inspire young people to get hands-on creating with technology. We want to grow the reach and impact of the Code Club network in Kenya, onboarding and capacity building new NGO partners, schools, and county governments to run clubs in their local communities.
  • The Computing Curriculum and educator professional development. We have developed a 500-hour computing curriculum based on leading research on teaching and learning computing. We are adapting the curriculum for Kenya, and are building partnerships to implement it via governments and education institutions, such as the Frontiers County Development Council.
  • Experience AI: We provide free lessons and classroom resources for teachers and students aged 11–14 localised for Kenya to help students develop a foundational understanding of AI and machine learning. The resources are cross curricula and based on original research into the concepts that make up AI literacy and how to teach them.
  • Coolest Projects:  a technology showcase and celebration of young digital creators and the amazing things they make with technology. There's an annual worldwide, online Coolest Projects showcase and in-person Coolest Projects events in several countries.

We are looking for someone who has experience in developing and delivering computing education programmes in Kenya, with an understanding of how to integrate programmes into education systems. You’ll be a skilled project manager who can lead the end-to-end delivery of multi-stakeholder projects with a diverse range of stakeholders including NGOs, community and volunteer-led organisations, and government (county, provincial, and national government).

You’ll understand how to support partners to deliver programme outcomes, and will be a great community manager, with experience of creating and steering learning communities of partners. You’ll also have an agile attitude to work and be ready to propose and try new approaches, and evaluate and iterate.

We strive to make the Foundation a place where talented people who care about our mission can do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you’re the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be working with an exceptional team.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end programme and partnership management of assigned partners, supporting effective delivery and building partner capacity to deliver high-quality learning experiences for young people and educators
  • Collaborate with the Foundation’s Impact team to improve and implement partner Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), using the results to identify and drive improvement and ensure outcomes are consistently achieved
  • Report on progress across the partnership and programme lifecycle, using data driven insights to identify and action opportunities, challenges and risks and making renewal recommendations
  • Identify partnerships and collaborations to facilitate growth and adoption of RPF programmes in Kenya, including actively growing non-partner supported Code Clubs and schools that use the computing curriculum
  • Manage the grant management and partner qualification process from initial partner prospecting to award of the grant
  • Build the volunteer, educator, and partner communities, facilitating connections and opportunities to learn from each other
  • Collaborate with RPF teams to improve the onboarding experience, user journey, tools and processes to support partners
  • Enhance the visibility of the impact we have created with our partners by contributing content for our newsletters, social and digital media channels, and interacting on our Slack channel

About us

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an independent charity with a global mission to enable all young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies.

We empower schools to teach computer science and AI literacy through free curricula, classroom resources, purpose built software tools, and professional development for teachers. We inspire young people to become tech creators through the world's largest networks of coding clubs. We undertake original research that informs our work and which we use to advance the field of computer science education more broadly.

All of our resources and learning experiences are available for anyone to use at no cost. We are particularly focused on creating opportunities for young people who experience educational disadvantage and those who come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in technology industries.

Over the past decade, we have supported hundreds of thousands of educators and tens of millions of students. We have teams in six countries (India, Ireland, Kenya, South Africa, the UK and US) and partnerships with mission-aligned non-profit organisations in over 60 countries.

We are at the forefront of the global educational movement to expand access to computer science education and AI literacy. You can learn more about our work in our latest Annual Report.
