The Role:

Oxfam GB is looking for a Racial Justice Lead, who will play a pivotal role in Oxfam GB (OGB) by strategically leading the transformation into a more equitable, anti-racist, and inclusive organization. This is a position which will champion and embed racial justice, decolonization, feminist and equalities principles across OGB’s influencing work in the UK and internal culture. Working collaboratively across all teams, including with partners and stakeholders, the Racial Justice Lead will work on strategy and advocacy in the UK to progress Oxfam’s leadership on racial justice including across people powered movements. The Lead will hold decision making responsibility in strategic and operational work in racial justice, as well as setting and leading the delivery of specified work for racial justice.

We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam's mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability and inclusion in all you do.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

  • Proven experience in shaping organisational strategy and/or implementation through collaborative learning with communities engaged in racial justice.
  • Expertise, understanding and experience of working with race, gender and power analysis and practical action to address issues stemming from it
  • Ability to engage with and influence traditional and non-traditional stakeholders in ways that lead to increased impact for the organization
  • Commitment to Oxfam's values of anti-racist, safe and intersectionally feminist - including tangible examples of operationalising those values into organisational initiatives, policy or programmining
  • Experience of supporting community organising in diverse communities
  • Decision-making skills, aligned to Oxfam's organisational strategies and values
  • Significant project management skills and expertise
  • Can act as a spokesperson for Oxfam GB on racial justice, aid/decolonisation and thematic issues around conflict/peace OR climate justice OR gender.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills, able to engage on complex issues, and use a diversity of information to develop and lead strategic, workable action plans
  • Lived experiences with intersecting systems of oppression, with knowledge and experience of how power and privilege play out
  • Dedication to self-awareness, power, and deconstructing personal privilege in systems of oppression.

This role is hybrid, with an agreed number of days based in our Oxford office, to be discussed and confirmed with the line manager. Some national travel will be expected as part of the role.
