Key Responsibilities

1.       Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end project management: planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of project activities.
  • Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operations of the project, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
  • Manage relationships with implementing partners (local NGO and private sector partner) to ensure coordinated and on-track performance and adherence to contracts and workplans.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting, working closely with Trócaire’s finance team to ensure fiscal accountability and compliance.
  • Regularly monitor project progress using robust tools (e.g., Gantt charts, budget-vs-actual reports), identify risks early, and implement corrective actions.
  • Organize and lead regular Technical Working Group meetings and provide updates to the Project Steering Committee.
  • With Line manager and Business Development and Grants Manager ensure timely and high-quality reports to the donors, this includes reviewing partners reports and providing appropriate feedback.
  • Maintain accurate and updated project files (both on Salesforce and hard copy)
  • Collaborate with Trocaire Technical Advisors (in country and head office) to align programming approaches with best practices, ensuring consistency and documentation

2.       Coordination & Collaboration

  • Act as the primary liaison between Trócaire, partners, consultants, and stakeholders to foster smooth coordination and problem-solving.
  • Ensure strong coordination between technical support teams (Business Model Consultant, MEAL Manager, Procurement Officer, Finance Officer, and Climate Change Innovation Officer) to align resources and deliverables.
  • Facilitate regular field visits and technical support missions to strengthen partner performance and accountability. Work with line manager and partners to address issues from reporting or monitoring visits, revising project strategies and plans as needed.
  • Lead and document project start-up and close-out processes to ensure institutional learning.

3.       Stakeholder & Partner Engagement

  • Facilitate inclusive consultations and engage local stakeholders, including communities, traditional leaders and LGA.
  • Support visibility and communication activities—developing case studies, updates, and promotional materials to highlight project outcomes.
  • Lead in hosting visitors, including donors, Ministries and the media, and represent Trócaire at relevant forums and events.

4.       Capacity Strengthening & Learning

  • With Trocaire Partnership and Localisation manager support implementation of capacity-building plans for the local CSO partner in project management, financial management, reporting and MEAL.
  • Facilitate workshops, learning exchanges, and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.
  • Provide feedback on partner-developed tools and resources, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with the MEAL Manager to establish effective monitoring and evaluation systems that promote learning and adaptive management.

 

5.       Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Business Model Consultant: Ensure business model development is aligned with project goals.
  • MEAL Manager: Ensure timely data collection, learning, and adaptive planning.
  • Procurement Officer: Oversee procurement and logistics to ensure compliance and timeliness.
  • Climate Change Innovation Officer: Ensure synergies between the solar pilot and broader climate change initiatives.

 

Other Duties

  • Contribute to country-level strategic planning, program reviews, and team learning.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Climate Change Program Manager, Head of Programs and Country Director.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Project Management, International Development, Renewable Energy or related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management, coordination, and implementation within development, humanitarian, or public sector contexts.
  • Proven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects and delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Experience working with local civil society partners or in partnership-based programming.
  • Sound knowledge of financial management and donor compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating meetings, workshops, and capacity-building.
  • Experience with monitoring and evaluation frameworks and reporting.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent project management and coordination skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building, diplomacy and negation skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent planning, problem-solving, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and familiar with project management tools.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Person Specification – Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification in Project Management, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy, rural electrification, or climate resilience.
  • Experience managing donor-funded grants (Irish Aid or similar).
  • Experience developing training modules or social media content.
  • Exposure to women’s empowerment or governance-focused programming.
