Food & Agriculture Program

The ClimateWorks Food & Agriculture Program leverages the power of philanthropy to transform food systems and agricultural practices through proven climate solutions. We envision global food systems that not only help to end the climate crisis, but also improve health and nutrition, food security, water and air quality, land conservation, and combat inequality. Through our grantmaking and partnerships, we coordinate philanthropic efforts, scale innovative climate solutions, advance key policies, and create conditions that enable corporate and consumer choices that align with a safe climate. 

Funder Collaborations

Built to serve results-driven philanthropy, ClimateWorks leads collaborations that enable funders to strategize, learn, and execute new and existing climate initiatives. Our suite of best-in-class collaborations empower the largest global climate funders to increase individual and collective impact. We facilitate a wide range of international collaborations designed to build high-trust relationships, create strategic alignment, and facilitate coordinated actions across the climate philanthropy ecosystem, including funders, grantees, and other climate leaders. The Funder Collaborations Department works closely as a team to strategically support high-caliber global collaborations, convenings, and special projects including funder forums, learning networks, and joint action groups. We work in a fast-paced environment, serving as the secretariat for our flagship climate philanthropy collaboration and hosting two international hybrid convenings a year as key community moments. Job Summary

Senior Coordinator, Food & Agriculture Funder Engagement, reports to the Director, Food & Agriculture Program, to coordinate philanthropic engagement and convenings online and in-person for the program. This position will also support the Funder Collaborations team to organize multi-day international climate funder meetings twice a year, including sessions related to food & agriculture. 

The Senior Coordinator operates at an essential intersection of our work — weaving together knowledge of Food and Agriculture funders with the broader funder community members with highly organized action plans and an ability to find the key detailed next steps to advance collective work. They work in a dynamic team environment, possess a passion for seamless logistics, and find joy in the details. The Senior Coordinator has strong discernment and competency to support VIP communications.

Project management experience is critical for this role, which provides impeccable administrative management, coordination and execution on a very busy annual calendar of calls, meetings, events, products, and services for a diversity of funders spread globally across multiple time zones and for multiple simultaneous projects. 

As part of the Food and Agriculture Program, they are responsible for managing multiple funder working groups and funder collaborations including regular calls and several in-person funder convenings per year. 

As part of the Funder Collaborations team, they are responsible for supporting the execution of 2-3 major multi-faceted international convenings annually, plus providing support to a variety of internal and external coalition projects. 

Essential Tasks

Food and Agriculture Program (50% FTE)

  • Support the cultivation of a coordinated and networks funder ecosystem in food and agriculture
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of regular funder discussions (webinars and in-person meetings) by theme and type, including scheduling the meetings and developing the agendas — with input from the team, other CWF programs and departments (as relevant), and funders. 
  • Lead on pre/post-session communication, note taking, tracking of actions for follow up, and other logistical and administrative matters.
  • Identify themes and issues of interest for funders for follow up from the FT and with programs and departments.
  • Keep up to date funder contacts and invitation lists. Collaborate internally for any routine funder-oriented relevant communication materials, in consultation with the marketing and communications team.

Funder Collaborations (50% FTE)

Session Planning and Delivery

  • Organize and coordinate strong cross-team and inter-department communication and project execution, recording and issuing notes, tracking action items, activity, and timelines; following-up with team members on progress and execution, and filling gaps as needed
  • Coordinate the planning of a subset of sessions for international funder  meetings (as assigned), and support the planning efforts of other team members, including:
    • Leads the coordination of session planning work including VIP/funder/government stakeholder groups through complex diplomatic processes and steps to secure joint outcomes 
    • Coordinate work with CWF program team and GTel staff in accomplishing their goals in funder meetings, bridging programmatic, collaborative, and logistical work, and working across the three CWF teams to support internal collaboration
  • Support the processes of creating large volume material pre-read packets, managing meeting content, and other event operations as needed for international convenings.

Required Qualifications

Must have

Project & Process Management

  • At least 5+ years of senior administrative work experience, including managing projects involving multiple team members and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated history of solution-oriented project management. Experience developing project plans and timelines, defining roles and dependencies, and personally executing and/or managing teams to implement plans in evolving environments, including deft and complex scheduling to keep project work on track.
  • Experience creating and managing processes that produce high quality materials and products.
  • Experience creating the plans and logistics for effective group calls and meetings.
  • Experience working with team members in shared processes or project work.
  • Excellent judgment in setting and following decision-making hierarchies and approval processes and protocols, recommending improvements in processes, and adapting to meet goals or to find solutions with team members.
  • Assiduous attention to detail and protocol, strong organizational skills, and a passion for creating seamless project plans, and seeing them through to completion.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong business communication skills, verbally and in writing. Ability to write correspondence. Outstanding grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to high-level inquiries from partners and executives.
  • Excellent customer service skills guided by exceptional judgment, discretion in handling sensitive matters with tact and poise, and ability to work well with VIPs and colleagues from other cultures.

Technological Proficiency

  • Technically-savvy, experience adopting and using technology platforms, and a quick learner with new programs and platforms.
  • Experience with CRM systems and meeting management platforms; experience with Salesforce and Cvent a plus.
  • Experience with project management software; experience with Asana a plus.

Professionalism & Travel Ability

  • Ability to take initiative, act independently, and direct one’s own work.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently (both virtually and in-person) with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel in the US and internationally, typically about 20 days a year.

Other terms and conditions

Expected Duration: This is a fixed-term position with an expected duration of 12 months. Any extension beyond the initial term will be subject to business needs and funding.

Travel: This is a home-based assignment with occasional travel (up to 20 days a year)  in support of funder convenings. Desired candidates will have 2-4 hours of overlap with both US Pacific Time and Central European Time.

Compensation 

ClimateWorks offers an excellent benefits package and a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience (geographic differential applied based on location).

Salary Range (Bay Area / NYC): $90,000 - $95,000 annually

Salary Range (Other US): $85,000 - $90,000 annually

Location 

ClimateWorks Foundation is based in the San Francisco Financial District. This position is classified as US Flexible. Exceptional candidates can work from the SF office or from other locations; geographic differential applied to compensation based on local cost of labor.
