About Studyportals.

We change the lives of millions of students and leave the world a bit brighter than we found it. Every minute 100 students around the world trust our platforms (e.g., mastersportal.com) to find their best matching education for free. At the same time, we help educators diversify their (international) student population and reduce dropouts.

With forty different nationalities among the 150 people working at Studyportals, we are an international bunch of people. Eager to learn and serious about fun. Want to know more?

Why are we searching for you?

We want to strengthen our ability to innovate and stay ahead in the era of AI. Studyportals has a strong pipeline of strategic ideas that we’re transforming into tangible experiments and new products.

As part of our new R&D team, you’ll play a key role in exploring emerging technologies, testing bold ideas, and building prototypes that could shape the future of our platforms. Your work helps us discover what truly drives value for students and universities - combining creativity, data, and engineering craftsmanship to turn innovation into impact.

What are your three main goals?

  • Experiment and innovate by exploring new technologies, especially AI, to build and validate early-stage ideas through rapid technical prototyping and data-driven experimentation.
  • Deliver real impact by turning promising concepts into product features that help students discover study opportunities tailored to them, increasing engagement, retention, and overall platform value. You ensure we build high-quality and scalable products.
  • Help us to become more scalable as a platform, by decoupling our dependencies and driving our microservice architecture. Staying in control of quality is key!

What does your team look like?

The Product Engineering department consists of 35 talented engineers and designers, organized into small, autonomous teams. You’ll join a cross-functional R&D team of five, working closely with your Product Owner to explore and develop new ideas that increase user engagement and harness the potential of AI.

As part of this team, you have real influence - from identifying opportunities to designing, building, and validating solutions. The R&D team operates with a strong sense of ownership, focusing on rapid experimentation, technical excellence and scalability, and learning through iteration.

You’ll be supported by experienced technical leadership that ensures you have the freedom, tools, and guidance to innovate, remove roadblocks, and continuously grow as an engineer.

What Tech Stack do we use?

The technology behind Studyportals’ platforms is based on PHP, Typescript, Node/NPM, Docker and AWS. Virtually all our systems have been developed in-house and are following modern quality standards. We work in a service-oriented architecture, powered by our own RESTful API and AWS. In parallel, we are scaling up our infrastructure, moving towards SOC2 compliance.

We also experiment with new technologies when they help us innovate faster or smarter — from AI tooling to emerging frameworks.

What are we looking for?

  • At least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related field.
  • You have 6+ years of experience as a Full Stack Web Developer.
  • Experience building applications in JavaScript component-based frameworks (e.g., VueJS, React or Angular). Modern JavaScript, TypeScript, NPM, and Webpack. Proficient in both Front-end and Back-end development.
  • HTML5 and SCSS/CSS3 are second nature to you, and you care about performance, accessibility, and responsive design.
  • You have a solutions architect level of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and know how to design and build distributed cloud native applications.
  • You have a proven track record of architecting and implementing scalable and reliable back-end systems.
  • Experience with (different types of) automated testing as part of CI/CD driven software development.
  • You write clean, modular, and maintainable code, following SOLID and modern software design principles.
  • You like to collaborate, appreciate open communication, and are comfortable with working cross-functionally.
  • Competitive salary including a bonus and pension.
  • 32 vacation days (including bank holidays) you have the flexibility to take your holidays whenever you want (e.g., be off on Chinese New Year instead of King’s Day)
  • Reimbursement of your work-related travel costs.
  • Flexibility to work remotely 3 days per week, including a remote working allowance.
  • Possibility to work from abroad 2 times a year.
  • An annual personal development budget because personal growth is KEY!
  • A nice and fun office in the heart of Eindhoven; five minutes’ walk away from the station
