Snapshot

The Strategic User Segment Team is evolving to own the Gemini experience for APAC, with the primary goal of identifying high-potential regional use cases and growing them into global solutions. We operate with a dual mandate: influencing the broader GenAI ecosystem to support our segments and directly implementing high-impact features.

Our mission is to significantly grow the Gemini App's DAU by optimizing GenAI for key strategic user segments, including:

Global Users: Driving growth through country-specific feature launches (e.g., regional deals like Reliance Jio) and model quality improvements.

Young Users & Students: Launching domain-specific features for education and learning.

Health & Information Seekers: creating vertical experiences for health and fitness content.

We are a talent-dense, fast-moving team operating with a "quality over quantity" mindset. We commit to fewer initiatives but execute them with world-class quality to maximize DAU impact.

About Us

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

The Role

We are looking for a candidate with a strong track record of developing complex, user-centric Android applications. As the primary Android expert on the team, you will:

  • Own the Android Stack: Lead the design, development, and deployment of native Android experiences for Gemini, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
  • Bridge ML and UI: Work closely with our ML engineers and Research teams to translate cutting-edge GenAI models into intuitive, tangible mobile user experiences.
  • Regional to Global: Prototype and build features tailored for APAC users (e.g., specific regional integrations) and architect them to be scalable for a global rollout.
  • Partner Collaboration: Act as the technical lead for Android-specific partner integrations (OEMs) to expand Gemini’s reach on mobile devices.
  • Thrive in Ambiguity: Take vague problem statements regarding user needs in the APAC region, scope them out, and iterate quickly from prototype to polished product.
