Social Media & Video Content Producer

WePlanet
Contract
Remote
Worldwide

WePlanet is building a global community of progressive environmentalists / ecomodernists working to drive change on climate, environment, and development through evidence-based solutions. As our visibility and ambitions grow, so does the importance of producing high-quality, compelling digital content that helps our ideas travel further and land more effectively. This role carries a clear expectation of growing our audience and deepening engagement across priority platforms, particularly Instagram and LinkedIn. This role is accountable for measurable growth in reach, followers, and engagement across priority platforms.

We’re seeking a Social Media & Video Content Producer to expand our social media output, with a particular focus on short-form, video-led content for platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role, translating ideas, research, and campaign framing into engaging, platform-native content that performs.

Our work has been featured in outlets including The New York Times, The Guardian, BBC, Reuters, and others. This is an opportunity to join a small, ambitious, fully remote team and play a central role in shaping how our work is seen, understood, and shared.

While we welcome applicants globally, the role requires overlap with colleagues working in Eastern European time zones.

Applications will remain open until the position is filled, but priority will be given to candidates who apply promptly and are available to start at the earliest opportunity.

A bit about us

WePlanet is a global movement of citizens and scientists with an urgent mission to defend the science we need to save the planet. United by a philosophy called ecomodernism, we believe that achieving human prosperity and radical planetary healing are possible at the same time. We fight to rewild the planet, restore the climate and scale down animal agriculture whilst at the same time promoting the right of the Global South to a high energy modern lifestyle.

Our environmentalist/ecomodernist philosophy means we are constantly open minded and that we reject the ideological anti-science positions of so many traditional green NGOs. For that reason, as well as pushing for an urgent end to fossil fuels and a rapid roll out of renewables we are also currently campaigning to defend low-carbon nuclear energy, pesticide-reducing gene edited crops, poverty-busting GMOs and animal-saving cultivated meat.

Starting with 8 national chapters in Europe, we now have nearly 20 growing national groups across Europe, Africa, Asia as well as Australia and the USA. With new foundation funding we are now building an ambitious digital campaigning and fundraising engine to build a powerful global mailing list capable.

About the role

You will be responsible for producing high-quality short-form video and visual content that supports WePlanet’s campaigns, fundraising, and narrative reach. Strategic ideas, campaign framing, and subject-matter expertise are generated across leadership and campaign teams. Your role is to turn those inputs into consistently strong, well-crafted short-form video and complementary post/carousel content that expands our reach and grows a value-aligned audience.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across communications, campaigns, and fundraising, as well as other freelancers where relevant. This role suits someone who prefers execution over ideation, is comfortable working from briefs, and takes pride in delivering polished output on tight timelines.

While we welcome applications globally, the role requires some overlap with colleagues working in European time zones.

What you’ll do as part of our team

Content production and execution

  • Produce high-quality short-form video content for Instagram reels, LinkedIn, and other priority platforms.
  • Write strong scripts, hooks, captions, and carousel copy that drive retention, clarity, and engagement.
  • Produce complementary static content (carousels and written posts) that reinforce video narratives and support campaign milestones.
  • Translate written and verbal inputs (including briefs, research notes, scripts, and campaign framing) into engaging, visually strong social media content.
  • Take ownership of video editing quality, pacing, hooks, captions, and overall visual storytelling.
  • Apply strong creative judgment to deliver content efficiently without requiring constant direction.
  • Test formats, hooks, and visual styles to continuously improve performance and clarity.

Social media execution and optimisation

  • Plan, schedule, and publish content across core social channels, with a primary focus on Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Adapt content per platform rather than cross-posting mechanically.
  • Monitor and review content performance to inform iteration and continuous improvement, sharing practical insights with the communications team.
  • Take ownership of follower growth and engagement growth across priority platforms, using testing, iteration, and data-informed decisions to improve reach, retention, and interaction rates.
  • Collaborate closely with the Ads Manager to produce high-performing creative assets for paid campaigns across Meta and LinkedIn.
  • Adapt organic content for paid amplification in coordination with the Ads Manager.
  • Maintain a clear, realistic content schedule aligned with team capacity and priorities.
  • Support values-aligned engagement on priority social channels, responding to comments and signals where appropriate to strengthen audience trust and connection.

Collaboration and coordination

  • Work closely with campaigners and leadership to capture and package ideas into effective social content.
  • Coordinate filming days, briefs, and preparation where required.
  • Provide clear, practical guidance to contributors on what is needed and what will be produced.
  • Act as the operational bridge between ideas and output, rather than the primary source of ideas.

Scalable content delivery

  • Support a hybrid content model combining a central content owner (this role) with freelance collaborators where relevant.
  • Help integrate externally produced content in coordination with the communications lead.
  • Maintain consistency of quality, tone, and narrative across contributors.
