Are you an experienced accounting professional looking to take on a broader role - one that combines hands-on accounting ownership with close partnership to team leadership? Join Novo Holdings' Accounting team as Accountant , and play a key role in both the team's day-to-day delivery and its digital and automation agenda.

About Finance

Finance at Novo Holdings supports a purpose-driven holding and investment organisation with a complex legal entity setup and international footprint. The Accounting team sits within Finance, that also includes Reporting and Controlling, Tax, Valuation, Investment Operations, Procurement, and Facility Management, and runs the operational accounting delivery across 35+ entities, combining in-house accounting with outsourced providers for several non-Danish entities. You will join the Accounting team, working alongside three bookkeepers, and report to the Head of Accounting.

The Role

As Accountant, you will take on broad responsibility for day-to-day bookkeeping, month-end closing, and year-end and Annual Report processes for selected entities, while also stepping into a closer partnership role with the Head of Accounting. You will support the prioritisation and coordination of work across the team, act as a sparring partner on accounting policy, process, and technical accounting matters, and step in on the Head of Accounting's behalf in meetings, reviews, or ad hoc queries when needed.

You will also act as the accounting team's key interface to the Reporting and Controlling team on Annual Report and controlling-related activities, and take ownership of the team's digital and automation agenda - identifying and driving automation opportunities, acting as key liaison to Finance Systems, and supporting the business case and implementation of new digital tools and process improvements. This is a role for someone who wants both technical depth and broader exposure.

Your tasks will include:

  • Daily bookkeeping, ensuring quality, correctness, and completeness in accordance with internal accounting policies and procedures, including supplier and debtors' processes
  • Processing employee expenses, and payment of invoices, transfers, and grants
  • Providing guidance to student assistants in their daily work
  • Handling supplier invoices and monthly invoicing, with follow-up and communication across the organisation
  • Acting as accounting counterpart towards outsourced service providers, supporting delivery of timely, high-quality accounting and reporting information
  • Preparing reconciliations of accounts in connection with monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting, including bank account and intercompany reconciliations
  • Reviewing accounting and reporting deliverables from outsourced service providers, and executing accounting controls within your assigned areas of responsibility
  • Preparing audit documentation and supporting schedules for external and internal auditors, executing year-end postings, and ensuring closure in the ERP system
  • Acting as contact person on daily bookkeeping matters and as finance system super user for selected finance systems and applications (e.g. Continia)
  • Supporting the Head of Accounting in prioritizing and coordinating work across the team, and acting as sparring partner on accounting policy, process, and technical accounting matters
  • Stepping in on behalf of the Head of Accounting as required, e.g. in meetings, reviews, or ad hoc queries
  • Acting as key interface to the Reporting and Controlling team on Annual Report and controlling-related activities, ensuring timely and accurate information flow between teams
  • Identifying and driving automation opportunities within the accounting team's processes (e.g. RPA, workflow tools, ERP functionality), and acting as the team's key liaison to Finance Systems and broader digital initiatives
  • Supporting implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and contributing to continuous improvement and optimisation of finance systems and processes

Qualifications

We are ideally looking for a candidate who:

  • Holds a relevant accounting education, preferably HD(R) or similar
  • Has experience from a similar position in an audit firm (services department) or finance function, with a minimum of 7-8 years of experience with most of the tasks above
  • Preferably has experience from an international environment
  • Has experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Continia products, and Readsoft Online, which is a plus
  • Is proficient in Danish and English, oral and written

  • Is ambitious, proactive, and structured in their approach to problem-solving
  • Brings intellectual quickness, curiosity, discipline, resourcefulness, and resilience
  • Has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build good relationships
