Background:

Climate Bonds Initiative (Climate Bonds) is an international non-governmental organization whose main task is to mobilise capital to achieve climate goals. Currently, Climate Bonds is involved in the development of the National Taxonomy of Morocco, which should contribute to the development of the green finance market in the country and help the Moroccan government fulfil its climate objectives. The project will consist of many stages and involve the active participation of a local partner with deep knowledge in the fields of green finance and taxonomy creation.

The project is designed for the period from July 2025 to February 2026. During the project, a comprehensive analysis of the target sectors of the Moroccan economy will be carried out; technical working groups of local experts, government and business representatives will be created; criteria for classifying activities in all three sectors as low-carbon and in transit to low emissions will be created; recommendations will be given on the application of the resulting criteria in real life the economy.

 Upon completion of the development process, several rounds of technical, targeted and public consultations will be held, during which everyone will be able to submit their ideas and proposals for inclusion in the taxonomy. After finalizing the final document, it is planned to hold a capacity building session to help integrate the results of the work into the day-to-day operations of financial and industrial enterprises in Morocco.

Purpose and Objectives:

For effective communication and making project information and materials accessible in French language, Climate Bonds plans to enter a Consultant Agreement with a qualified translator/interpreter for providing timely and high-quality translation/interpretation services from French to English and vice versa, as well as proofreading/editing documents and reports

Scope of Services and Deliverables/Outputs:

Translation Services:

• Translation from French to English and from English to French of various reports, documents, presentations, manuals, legislation, advocacy and information materials, and correspondences, among others.
• Produce a 100% accurate translation of English to French and from French to English.
• Make necessary corrections of changes required by the organization and re-submit revised documents within the agreed timeframe.

 Interpretation Services:

• Provide simultaneous/consecutive interpretation from French to English and vice versa during meetings, technical discussions, workshops and trainings, conference, etc.
• Provide interpretation from French to English and vice versa during official missions including field trips to project sites, training, workshop, information and knowledge sharing sessions.

Proofreading:

• Check, correct and edit for French to English translation work and vice versa.
• Quality check and proofreading of translation ensuring no typos, and errors in the final documents/reports.
• Ensure timely delivery of translated and edited materials.
• Assure translations are correct and consistent in terms of completion, terminology usage, and correct meaning in French.

• Physical presence in Morocco, readiness to travel across Rabat during consultant’s visits;
• Minimum 3 years of relevant translation experience;
• Familiarity with technical terminology related to climate change mitigation and adaptation on both languages;
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines;
• Demonstrated willingness to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment;
• Hands-on experience with MS office including MS word, MS excel and MS PowerPoint;

Fees:

The consultant will carry out various translation assignments as required by the Project Delivery Manager.  Before each assignment, the contractor will be informed in writing of the type and duration of his/her service. Upon completion of each assignment, the contractor will submit an Invoice describing the work completed and amount due. Payment will be made to the contractor upon the project’s satisfaction of each assignment.
