mySociety is a small, purposeful charity which creates and runs digital services that break down barriers to democratic participation, equipping people to take action and drive meaningful change. We’re looking for a User Support Officer who has experience working with complex, high-volume digital services and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will be a self starter, have experience working with high risk cases, involving data protection and information rights, in a user support environment.
You’ll be working as part of a nimble, digital-first, and entirely remote team - you can work from anywhere in the UK! You will have the opportunity to meet your colleagues face to face at our quarterly in person team meetings.
The User Support Officer provides frontline user support for some of our key citizen services: FixMyStreet, TheyWorkForYou, WhatDoTheyKnow and WriteToThem; as well as overseeing and managing mySociety incoming enquiries. The User Support Officer handles a varied daily caseload, triaging and responding to user queries, identifying high-priority cases, and escalating where appropriate to ensure issues are resolved effectively.
This is a part-time role (5 hours per day, 25 hours per week, split across 5 days) to start as soon as possible.

Application instructions
Your application should consist of a CV and covering letter. We’ll rely on your covering letter to show us why your skills make you a good fit for this role when we are shortlisting candidates, so take your time getting it right. As part of the application, we will ask 4 specific questions related to the role. Please answer these in as much detail as possible.
We recognise that candidates may use AI to support the structure of an application, such as helping to plan or outline content. To help us get to know your unique experience and voice, we ask that you do not use AI to generate full, unedited responses to questions, or to provide content that is copied and pasted into the application. This ensures we can fairly and accurately understand your skills, perspective, and suitability for the role. Responses that appear heavily reliant on AI such as those that are overly generic, impersonal or do not align directly with the question and/or role profile will not be awarded the maximum possible score during the screening process and may result in a candidate not progressing through to the next stage of the process.
We are particularly interested in improving the diversity of our team and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled and experienced people, and particularly from candidates with Black, Asian or other Minority Ethnic heritage, in line with our EDI strategy.
We are monitoring our recruitment processes to ensure we are doing everything we can to encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We would ask you to please complete our optional equalities monitoring form. The information you share in the form will be anonymous and will not influence the assessment of your application.
