Location: WaterAid Bangladesh Country Office Dhaka, Bangladesh

 

Salary: Monthly Allowance BDT 30,000, Cell phone allowance, Festival allowance BDT 30,000 for completed tenure and Health Insurance for self.

About the team

The Finance team at WaterAid Bangladesh plays a pivotal role in ensuring robust financial management and accountability across the organisation. They oversee software-based accounting systems, manage payments to vendors and consultants, ensure compliance with statutory and donor regulations, and handle tax and VAT submissions to the National Board of Revenue. With a strong focus on transparency and efficiency, the team also supports grants and partnership management, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting. Their collaborative approach and technical expertise contribute significantly to WaterAid’s mission of delivering clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene to underserved communities. The position will report to ‘Finance Expert’

About the role

The main purpose of YP engagement is to manage petty cash fund, staff advance payment and monitoring, bank reconciliation, voucher filling and documentation, assisting in day-to-day financial operation as and when require, maintaining coordination with other teams within the organization.

The YP- Finance will be given opportunity to learn and contribute to enhancing WaterAid’s finance and administrative work. Through this work s/he obtain relevant experience to prepare his/herself to contribute professionally to any organizational set-up in coming days. The position will be given challenge to increase her footprint along with undertaking various finance activities, while learning-by-doing through training on job coaching during work.

In this role, you will:

1.      Main cash management

2.      Travel advance process and adjustment or reimbursement travel expense both local and international.

3.      Dollar endorsement for international travel advance.

4.      Staff advance aging.

5.      Bank reconciliation for all accounts.

6.      Monthly payment process like; overtime, mobile bill, internet bill, WASA, DESCO etc.

7.      Small scale vendor payment process

8.      Payment of contractual/casual staff remuneration

9.      Voucher filing and audit support.

10.  PAID seal affixed on vouchers

11.  Support team for timely payment

 

The responsibilities outlined above may be subject to periodic review and revision in consultation with the line manager.

To be successful, you will need:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or relevant subject from any recognised university with good academic results throughout the academic career.

Desired attributes:

  • Demonstrated excellence on extracurricular activities
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills both in Bangla and English
  • Admirable leadership, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills, and capacity to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Maximum age of 26 years as of January 1, 2025.
