About LAW 

Legal Action Worldwide (LAW) is an independent non-profit association comprised of human rights lawyers and jurists united in our belief that those who have experienced human rights violations and international crimes should receive targeted, survivor-centred, gender-competent and trauma-informed support to access the justice they deserve. LAW’s team operates on the ground in conflict-affected contexts combining national and international expertise. We work directly with survivors and their communities, building their capacity to meaningfully engage with justice and advocacy processes. Alongside this, we provide technical assistance to strengthen justice institutions to ensure they are equipped to deliver justice and work with legislators to promote accountability and the rule of law.

LAW in Bangladesh 

LAW’s ground-breaking Rohingya Crisis programme seeks to ensure meaningful Rohingya participation in the ongoing international justice processes pertaining to their treatment in Myanmar, including: the case before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (The Gambia v. Myanmar); the ongoing investigation by the Officer of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC); the proceedings before the Federal Criminal and Correctional Court in Argentina based on universal jurisdiction principle; and the work of the Independent Investigative Mechanism on Myanmar (IIMM). LAW works closely with the different legal teams working within these mechanisms. LAW undertakes innovative strategic litigation on behalf of Rohingya and ensures Rohingya voices are prioritized throughout its advocacy.  

In Cox’s Bazar, LAW works along with a network of volunteers, the ‘Survivor Advocates’ and members of the ‘Shanti Mohila’ (Peace Women), a Rohingya survivors’ group founded in 2018 – who are on the frontlines of the fight for justice for the Rohingya community. Over the years, they have made their community understand the ongoing international justice and accountability mechanisms, advocated for gender equality, and have spoken out about their experiences including the severe sexual violence perpetrated by the Myanmar military, with a view to contributing to the legal proceedings, overcoming the stigma associated with victimhood. 

Overview 

LAW is seeking a Art Therapy specialist (individual consultant/ organisation) to design and deliver trauma informed and survivor centred art therapy workshops; using art as a form of healing and expression with LAW’s Rohingya Survivor Advocates in Cox’s Bazar. The primary objective of the workshops is to strengthen psychosocial wellbeing of survivors and produce collaborative and exhibition ready artworks that elevate survivor voices within international justice and accountability efforts for crimes committed against the Rohingya in Myanmar.
The proposed activities will
produce visual storytelling outputs based on the lived experiences and leadership of Rohingya survivors and their key contributions to justice and accountability processes, while ensuring a safe and dignified creative space. 

Scope of Work and Deliverables  

The consultancy may include (but not limited to) the following tasks and responsibilities: 

• Inception & Safeguarding Setup of the art therapy workshops 

• Participant Engagement plan and thematic discussions on design/art 

• Foundational Workshops and practice sessions to enhance
  art skills, in a trauma sensitive manner 

• Work on collaborative art pieces on themes of gender equality and international justice. 

• Facilitate structured bi-monthly sessions
  (starting September 2025 until May 2026) with the cohort to utilise art as a form of storytelling and healing. 

• Prepare selective artworks for showcase and handover. 

Terms 

1. LAW will hold the copyright of all artworks, graphics, images, captions, and any intellectual property produced under the assignment; artist credit lines will be used as consented.  

2. The service provider must ensure full confidentiality of any data, information, or documents shared for the purpose of the assignment and comply with LAW’s safeguarding, PSEAH, and Code of Conduct policies. 

Required Qualifications of the Consultant/Production Agency 

The Consultant’s application will be evaluated against the following criteria:  

• Demonstrated experience and competency in art therapy/arts based MHPSS and group facilitation, preferably in humanitarian settings. 

• Portfolio evidencing production of collaborative artworks and/or exhibitions; strong visual storytelling skills. 

• Technical capacity to deliver high-quality facilitation and documentation. 

• Clear articulation of methodology, safeguarding approach, and innovative, context sensitive techniques. 

• Ability to translate complex justice/accountability themes into engaging, survivor safe visual narratives. 

• Experience working with UN agencies and/or NGOs representing victims and survivors of grave human rights violations; language skills in Rohingya/Chittagonian desirable. 

• The consultant must have the right to work in Bangladesh.
