✨ About the Role

The Assistant Student Success Manager (ASSM) is a key onsite leader responsible for delivering a high-quality student experience through academic support, advising, and holistic student success programming.

In this role, you will supervise a team of Student Success Advisors (SSAs) while maintaining direct engagement with students. You will ensure consistency in student support practices, contribute to a strong team culture, and collaborate across departments to promote student success and wellbeing.


🚀 What You’ll Be Doing

👥 Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and coach a team of 6–7 Student Success Advisors
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance feedback, and professional development
  • Ensure consistency in student support, case management, and escalation practices
  • Review SSA documentation and provide guidance on student interactions
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of team members
  • Foster a collaborative, student-centered team culture aligned with Verto values

🎓 Student Success & Academic Support

  • Serve as an advisor supporting students’ academic progress and goal setting
  • Identify students in need of intervention and coordinate support plans
  • Deliver workshops and programming on academic success and skill development
  • Collaborate with academic teams to connect students with tutoring and learning resources
  • Support implementation of academic accommodations

🚨 Student Support & Escalation

  • Act as an escalation point for student success concerns
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to determine appropriate interventions
  • Support students in navigating challenges while promoting independence and accountability
  • Participate in on-call rotations and assist with urgent or after-hours needs

🤝 Programming & Community Engagement

  • Lead or support student programming, including community engagement and experiential learning
  • Contribute to student leadership development initiatives
  • Support delivery of Discovery Week and ongoing programming
  • Help foster an inclusive, engaged student community

🏠 Housing & Residential Support

  • Partner with Housing Operations on student-facing housing concerns
  • Support student transitions, room changes, and community expectations
  • Assist in resolving housing-related issues as part of holistic student support
  • Reinforce housing policies and expectations

🧭 Pre-Arrival & Orientation Support

  • Support pre-arrival advising and virtual pre-departure sessions
  • Assist with onboarding during Discovery Week
  • Ensure students understand expectations, resources, and support systems

🗂️ Operations & Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate case documentation in Salesforce
  • Collaborate with Program Directors, Academic teams, and Housing Operations
  • Support implementation of student success systems and protocols
  • Adapt role responsibilities seasonally, including stepping into direct SSA support when needed
  • Provide cross-functional support based on site needs


🧠 What We’re Looking For

Must-have:

  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to work on-site in Seville
  • 2–4 years of experience in student success, advising, or higher education support roles
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff or student teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and support students effectively
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Comfort working with systems such as Salesforce, Canvas, Slack, or similar tools
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a global team

Nice-to-have:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, social work, or related field
  • Experience in education abroad or international education settings
  • Familiarity with academic accommodations and student support frameworks
  • Experience designing or delivering student programming

💲 Compensation

At Verto, base salary is one part of your total compensation package.

Final base pay will depend on your location (aligned to Verto’s compensation regions), as well as your experience, skills, and relevant qualifications. Your recruiter or hiring manager can share the specific range for your location during the hiring process.
