Associate Partner, Teaching Reimagined

NewSchools Venture Fund
On-site

OPPORTUNITY

Nationally recognized nonprofit venture philanthropy seeks an Associate Partner on the Teaching Reimagined team to help build the field of organizations working to make teaching a more effective, sustainable and joyful profession that attracts a diverse group of educators.

ORGANIZATION

NewSchools is a venture philanthropy that builds a better education system by connecting people, resources, and ideas. We bridge the gap between those with capital and those with the courage to put that capital to work on the frontlines of education. We envision an education system that keeps its promise to all students. That’s why we invest in the ideas and energy of education leaders and entrepreneurs who are advancing innovative solutions that expand the definition of what works. There’s a better way to advance education through philanthropy—one that is more equitable, more collaborative, and more courageous–and we’re proving it every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Teaching Reimagined Team seeks an Associate Partner (AP) to catalyze venture and field learning in service of a future where all students and educators thrive. In this role, you will manage and support a new research partnership designed to build an evidence base for teacher thriving and lead management assistance for a portfolio of ventures working to reimagine teaching. You will coordinate data collection activities, facilitate venture learning around impact and success drivers, and translate insights into strategy refinements and field-facing blogs, presentations, and convenings. You will also set the vision for annual venture support, source and manage technical experts, and oversee communities of practice that enable ventures to learn from and with each other.

  • Identify themes across our portfolio related to teacher thriving. Leverage insights to inform the evolution of the Teaching Reimagined strategy and share with the field through blogs and presentations.

Strengthening venture capacity through management assistance, you will:

  • Identify annual goals for portfolio-wide management assistance and design an aligned arc of support that includes relationship management, communities of practice, and access to technical expertise.
  • Identify and lead contracting and partnership with technical experts, ensuring that logistics run smoothly and that venture needs are met.
  • Plan and deliver bi-annual, in-person communities of practice for our ventures, enabling them to learn from and with one another.
  • Serve as a relationship manager for up to five venture leaders, providing ongoing coaching to help leaders scale their impact and build effective, equitable organizations.

Building bridges among efforts to reimagine educator roles, you will:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders working to reimagine the teaching profession.
  • Identify and coordinate opportunities to host or partner with other organizations to host convenings where innovative leaders learn from and with one another.
  • Develop blogs, reports, and conference/event presentations to communicate our work and impact to a range of audiences.

Contributing to broader Teaching Reimagined strategy and activities, you will:
