Role Summary

ALX Africa is seeking an Automation Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable automation systems that support our sales, marketing, and operational teams.

This role will focus on developing reliable integrations and automation workflows that connect multiple systems, streamline internal processes, and accelerate go-to-market operations. The Automation Developer will work closely with CRM and Automation Specialists to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions using modern automation orchestration platforms.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical builder who enjoys solving complex integration challenges and developing scalable automation frameworks that power operational efficiency.

Specific Responsibilities

• Build and maintain complex, high-reliability automation workflows that support scalable operational processes.
• Develop custom connectors and nodes in automation platforms such as n8n using JavaScript or Python.
• Integrate systems through APIs, webhooks, and authentication flows, including platforms such as HubSpot, Jotform, and other internal tools.
• Prototype and deploy internal automation tools and agents that enhance go-to-market operations.
• Partner with shared services, key stakeholders, engineering and CRM specialists to translate business requirements into robust automation solutions.
• Design automation architectures that prioritize security, reliability, and scalability.
• Establish best practices for testing, documentation, monitoring, and version control across automation systems.
• Continuously improve automation infrastructure to support new tools, workflows, and AI-enabled capabilities.

Skill Requirements - Essential

• 4–6 years of experience in automation development, integrations, IT systems automation, or software engineering.
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript and/or Python.
• Experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, and authentication frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with automation orchestration platforms (n8n preferred).
• Experience integrating CRM and marketing technology ecosystems.
• Familiarity with lightweight data platforms such as Airtable, Notion, or Smartsheets.
• Proven ability to design and deliver secure, scalable, and reliable automation solutions.

Skill Requirements - Preferable

• Experience building internal tools or automation agents that support operational teams.
• Experience working with sales, marketing, or revenue operations systems.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled automation workflows.
• Experience working in high-growth or startup environments.

Due to the considerable amount of virtual working and interaction with colleagues and customers in different physical locations internationally, it is essential that the successful applicant has the drive and ethic to succeed working in small teams physically but in larger efforts virtually. Self-drive to communicate constantly using web collaboration and video conferencing is essential.
