ABOUT THE COALITION
The Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC) aligns critical stakeholders on a path to transform the nation’s buildings through clean energy, using policy, research, market development and public engagement. The BDC and its members are charting the course to eliminate fossil fuels in buildings to improve people’s health, cut climate and air pollution, prioritize high-road jobs, and ensure that our communities are more resilient to the impacts of climate change. The BDC is proud to be a leader in this conversation by organizing, engaging, and empowering a broad group of stakeholders united behind the common goal of eliminating fossil fuels from buildings.
In New York State, buildings account for roughly one-third of climate pollution, making them a critical focus for climate action. Transitioning homes and buildings away from fossil fuels will improve public health, reduce emissions, lower energy costs, and create significant economic and job opportunities.
BDC’s New York team advances this work through stakeholder-led campaigns and policy initiatives. Our strategy focuses on advancing neighborhood-scale solutions for a phased, equitable transition off the methane gas system, while ensuring affordability and access by prioritizing investments in low- and moderate-income communities.
