About Pursuit

Pursuit is a social impact organization building the future of economic mobility in the age of AI.

For over a decade, we've transformed lives through immersive training programs that propel adults from low-income backgrounds — often without college degrees — into high-growth tech careers. Our graduates have already generated nearly $1 billion in lifetime wage gains. We've also pioneered the Pursuit Bond, an innovative outcomes-based financing model that aligns investor returns with long-term economic mobility, allowing us to scale impact in a financially sustainable way.

Now, as AI reshapes every industry, Pursuit is evolving into an AI-native organization. We're training AI-native talent, embedding AI into our operations, and building scalable software to extend our impact. From grassroots partnerships to national policy, we're not just filling jobs — we're rethinking how economic opportunity works at scale.

About the Role

Pursuit is hiring a Career Coach to guide Builders through one of the highest-stakes phases of their journey: the job search. This role owns a single core outcome — Builders getting hired — and does whatever it takes within that mandate: coaching networks and search strategy, sharpening how Builders present themselves, and pushing continuously on what "job-ready" means in a fast-changing market. This isn't a support function; you are accountable for the placement outcome itself.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own job placement as your core KPI - you are responsible for the outcome, not just the coaching input, and you proactively problem-solve whatever stands between a Builder and a job offer
  • Coach Builders on the skills needed to run an effective job search, leading both 1:1 sessions and group programming
  • Help Builders define their career goals and target roles to focus their search and maximize fit
  • Build Builders' networking skills - role-model outreach and networking conversations, prep them for events, and attend alongside them to coach in real time
  • Track Builder activity and progress against job search goals, including weekly pipeline reviews and application volume
  • Partner with the Jobs team to select and prepare Builders for facilitated hiring opportunities, understanding role requirements and shaping candidate profiles accordingly
  • Assess Builder job readiness and support them through interviews, negotiation, and offer acceptance
  • Help Builders identify and refine the AI Builds that will comprise their portfolios, giving direct feedback to ensure the work will appeal to employers
  • Advise Pursuit on the bar for job-ready application materials and coaching practices, helping design and scale an increasingly AI-native career coaching function
  • This role will not follow Pursuit's standard 10am–6pm schedule — Builders need coaching support across Day and Nights & Weekends cohorts, so your hours will be shifted to meet them where they are (for example, working later Monday–Thursday). We'll collaborate with you to land on the schedule that works, but come in expecting non-traditional hours, in-person time with Builders at our HQ in Long Island City, and event attendance as core to the job

About You

  • You're passionate about Pursuit's mission and have experience — or strong interest — working directly with adults from underserved communities
  • You have real familiarity with today's job market, ideally through experience on the hiring side (recruiting, talent acquisition, HR, or as a hiring manager/team lead)
  • You understand what it takes to land a role in today's job market and can speak to the nuances across different career paths
  • You're energized by coaching and professional development — you know how to inspire people toward their highest standard of work
  • You're data-driven and outcomes-oriented, comfortable using systems to track progress at scale and to spot where coaching needs to flex
  • You give feedback that's constructive, specific, and actionable — written and verbal — and you know how to motivate people from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Outcomes-obsessed, not effort-obsessed — you measure your own success by whether Builders get hired, and you adjust your approach relentlessly until that happens
  • Mission-Driven: You care deeply about equity, tech access, and expanding opportunity for underrepresented communities

Pursuit Offers

  • An opportunity to work at the intersection of tech and social impact, and make a direct impact on the communities we serve
  • Competitive compensation in base, plus bonus and a full benefits package
  • 401k match
  • Unlimited PTO and an all-Pursuit summer break the last week of August, plus a week-long holiday the last week of December
  • Catered lunches once a week and great snacks
  • Dedicated time to build in AI and hone your own AI skills

Salary & Benefits

The expected salary range for this role is $80,000 – $100,000 base + incentive compensation.

The compensation above reflects the expectations laid out in this job description; however, we're often open to a wide variety of profiles and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than posted. If that's the case, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.
