    Relief International (RI) is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing.

Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.

  • Job Profile
    The cleaner is accountable for maintaining cleanliness in the Office and GH and should report to the Operations Assistant.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Accountability and Complexity
    • Ensure the Office and GH are kept clean according to agreed cleaning schedules, policies, procedures, standards, and strategies.
    • Maintain stores and supplies at agreed levels and use them economically.
    • Clean building floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
    • Adhere to procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
    • Notify the manager regarding the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
    • Requisition supplies or equipment required for cleaning duties.
    • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
    • Service and clean restrooms.
    • Regularly gather and empty trash at least twice a day during working hours.
    • Ensure cleanliness and hygienic cleaning methods in the GH and office as per the following guidelines and rules
    • Wear a clean and appropriate uniform.
    • Practice hand hygiene (washing or using hydro-alcoholic friction) at the beginning and end of cleaning operations, and whenever necessary.
    • Wear gloves during cleaning actions.
    Follow a logical order while cleaning:
    o Start with the least contaminated areas.
    o Work from clean to dirty, and from top to bottom.
    o Clean before disinfecting.
    o Never mix different cleaning products.
    o Clean and disinfect equipment after use at the end of the day.
    o Utilize effective dust removal techniques such as wet wiping of surfaces and wet sweeping.
    • Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors using soapy water or other appropriate cleaning agents.
    • Ensure the GH room is ready to receive guests according to the schedule provided by the line manager.
    • Share the cleaning checklist weekly with the hiring manager.
    • Regularly inspect GH rooms and the kitchen.
    • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager

    • Will ensure the highest standards of behavior inside and outside of work promotes the values in RI’s code of conduct and safeguarding policies
    • Will be a model for ethical conduct standards for other team members
    • Will ensure own actions and the actions of the teams members they manage do not impact the safety of the RI team and the vulnerable communities we serve

  • Skills, knowledge and expertise required for the role.
    - Essential criteria

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position.
• Strong comprehension and understanding of business requirements.
• Ability to adapt to daily and weekly tasks consistently.
• Proficient in identifying and addressing problems or unusual matters.
• Good communication skills with the direct manager.
• Proficient in dealing with the local language and communicating through available means.
- Desirable criteria
• 6 months experience in NGOs.
• Education secondary degree.
• Arabic language.
