Communications Manager, South Asia (Delhi, India; Full time – Remote)

 

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to join our dynamic team in Asia. The ideal candidate will be a strategic communicator with a strong command of messaging, media relations, and stakeholder engagement. They will play a key role in developing and executing communication strategies that amplify IEEFA’s research and advance our mission.

 

The candidate should possess excellent writing, editing, and content development skills, with the ability to translate complex, technical material into clear and compelling narratives tailored to diverse audiences. They should be proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a remote work environment. A strong commitment to IEEFA’s mission—to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy—is essential.

 

IEEFA is a rapidly-growing NGO/nonprofit that conducts research and analysis on financial and economic issues related to energy markets, trends and policies. Headquartered in the United States, IEEFA has a team of 70+ analysts and communications personnel located in 15 countries across the globe.  IEEFA produces a significant volume of original research, as well as ongoing analysis and reports on issues affecting energy industries. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic communications advice to the South Asia Director and manage the regional communications team and workflow.
  • Translate complex research and analysis into clear, engaging content tailored to target audiences.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of all South Asia communications, including reports, media releases, commentaries, fact sheets, presentations, graphics, and social media posts—ensuring they are well-edited, fact-checked, peer-reviewed, and aligned with IEEFA’s branding, tone, and messaging.
  • Develop key messages, narratives, and visual content for dissemination across social media, the IEEFA website, and presentations.
  • Support analysts in preparing for media interviews and public speaking engagements by aligning narratives and reviewing content as needed.
  • Provide constructive editorial feedback to analysts to maintain high standards of written communication.
  • Drive visibility and impact of IEEFA South Asia’s work through effective use of social media and other channels; monitor engagement and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to the global IEEFA Communications Strategy and lead its implementation in South Asia.
  • Work with other regional communications managers to help implement or lead in delivering key communications projects for IEEFA.
  • Track, evaluate, and report on communication outcomes to inform continuous improvement.
  • Design and execute strategic media and communications campaigns to elevate analysts and their research.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with IEEFA’s global communications teams and partner organisations in the region to ensure alignment and maximise impact.
  • Lead and manage direct reports, promoting team collaboration, development, and performance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in a media, public relations, or communications role, preferably in a strategic or managerial capacity.
  • Undergraduate qualifications in a relevant field, such as communications, public relations or journalism
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining media relationships, and effectively engaging stakeholders to increase visibility, influence, and impact of organisational messaging.
  • Outstanding copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex, technical content into accessible and compelling communications for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across teams and cultures.
  • Proficiency in remote work tools, including file sharing and video conferencing platforms, with the ability to work independently in a distributed team environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with digital publishing platforms, content management systems, or design software (e.g. Adobe Suite, Canva) is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior editorial experience in the finance, energy, or sustainability sectors, or in a mission-driven non-profit organisation, is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time 12-month fixed-term employment contract with the option of extension by mutual agreement and a market competitive remuneration. Pay rates are also based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity.

 

Work Schedule

Full-time, 5 days/week with occasional evening or weekend work as required.

 

Travel

Some travel is required. All team members attend IEEFA’s annual conference and international team retreat.

 

Physical Demand and Work Environment.

Must be able to work for prolonged periods at a computer. Computer work can involve repetitive motion, eyestrain, back, and neck strain.
