Role title: Community Manager 

Salary: $70,000-$90,000

Reports to: Director of Finance and Administration

Direct reports: Hospitality & Events Associates and Interns

Status: Full-time, some nights and weekends may be required

Location: Hula, 50 Lakeside Avenue, Burlington, VT

About Hula: Hula is on a mission to elevate Vermont entrepreneurs and create meaningful community connections from a 14-acre coworking campus, innovation hub, and venture ecosystem on the shores of Lake Champlain in Burlington’s South End Innovation District. The Hula campus is an idyllic setting for scaling businesses to recruit top talent, maximize productivity, access necessary growth capital, host dynamic events, and foster a healthy and active company culture. The Hula team is searching for a motivated, entrepreneurial individual to fill the role of Community Manager. This role is highly dynamic and requires strong verbal and written interpersonal skills.    

About the Community Manager: The Community Manager supports community engagement, delivers outstanding member services, oversees operational efficiencies, manages a small team, and collaborates cross functionally. The Community Manager enjoys a key role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of our coworking campus. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with excellent interpersonal skills, a strong commitment to creating a positive and productive workspace, and a strong desire to foster community.

Community Engagement 

  • Lead the hospitality and events team–which supports member engagement activities and events, public programming, private events, and perks programming–with warmth and professionalism, serving as the welcoming face and trusted ambassador.
  • Proudly represent Hula at on- and off-campus networking opportunities and events, building lasting relationships and elevating the brand.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members and external clients, addressing their needs and concerns.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages member interaction.
  • Oversee and encourage cross functionality and collaboration with the management team to ensure seamless program execution across campus. 

Member Services & Event Oversight

  • Collaborate with the Marketing team in the sale of passes, memberships, private events, and other offerings in alignment with monthly target forecasts.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including onboarding new members, assisting with inquiries, and supporting private event clients, caterers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Oversee the management of all membership plans, billing, and renewals. 
  • Resolve issues and handle conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
  • Implement and streamline operational procedures to enhance efficiency and member satisfaction.
  • Proficiently administer CRM, software, and technology, including but not limited to Nexudus, Tripleseat, Kisi, Slack, Park Link, Wi-Fi, printing, and more.  
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Administration on technology platforms and implementation. 
  • Work closely with the leadership team and management team to develop and measure KPIs specific to acquisition, retention, and occurpany rates across product lines.  
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all activities and events throughout campus hosted by internal and external clients, including member events, public programming, private conference room bookings, and large events in The Reef.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs, develop and implement event proposals, and ensure all requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to deliver high-quality event experiences.

Operational Efficiency

  • Oversee daily operations, including the management of common areas, meeting rooms including technology within, and office equipment.
  • Ensure the facility is clean, well-maintained, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.  Provide real-time feedback to the Facility Team and vendors when issues arise.
  • Coordinate with the Facility Team for maintenance and repair services.
  • Manage inventory of office supplies, amenities and community consumables.

Team Collaboration and Supervision

  • Supervise, schedule, support and manage the hospitality and events team, ensuring high standards of performance and customer service.
  • Collaborate with the management team and cross-functionally to develop and execute strategic initiatives and promotions.
  • Oversee interns and seasonal associates as needed.

Requirements

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or related field, or demonstrated years of experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in a coworking space, hospitality, or related industry.
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in using office software and management systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
