Scale to Win is hiring a Controller to direct the organization’s financial compliances while overseeing financial reporting and operational accounting. 

About the Role

The Corporate Controller will lead the financial operations for the company and be responsible for financial compliance matters. This role benefits from expertise in SaaS or telephony business models, sales tax compliance, invoicing, financial reporting, operational accounting processes, vendor and payables management, payroll and benefits management, and cash collections. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in managing a variety of accounting functions and be comfortable working with fractional or full-time support staff to maintain financial records. This position will be responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day accounting operations, helping to build financial strategies, and contributing to the company’s growth through diligent fiscal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Budgeting: Lead the creation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Oversee fractional bookkeeping staff. Develop and manage company-wide budgets and forecasts, working closely with the Fractional CFO.
  • Cash Flow Planning: Maintain cash flow reporting, including forecasting and optimizing cash reserves to ensure the business has the liquidity necessary to operate efficiently.
  • Vendor Onboarding & Negotiations: Lead the process of vendor onboarding, ensuring all necessary documentation and contracts are in place. Team with department heads and the COO to negotiate favorable terms with vendors to help control costs and optimize service delivery.
  • Invoicing & Accounts Receivable: Coordinate with operations in the invoicing processes, ensuring that clients are billed correctly and promptly.
  • Cash Collections: Support and coordinate with the operations team for the cash collections process. Develop strategies to reduce overdue receivables.
  • Accounts Payable & Payroll: Supervise accounts payable to ensure timely payments to vendors, as well as oversee payroll processing to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Employee Benefits & Retirement Plans: Administer employee benefits and retirement plans, including ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and overseeing enrollments and changes.
  • Insurance Renewal Support: Assist with the renewal process for company insurance policies.
  • Sales Tax: Manage compliance with sales tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including nexus determination, taxability analysis, and proper application of sales tax rules for applicable jurisdictions and revenue models.
  • Tax Reporting Support: Provide support for tax reporting and compliance, working with external tax professionals to ensure timely and accurate filing of all necessary documents.
  • Mail & Payments: Handle incoming mail and payments, including processing checks, bank deposits, and other financial documents.
  • Metric Reporting: Support the tracking of key financial metrics and performance indicators.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Lead or assist with various ad hoc financial and operational projects as needed. This could include special reports, process and internal control improvements, audits, or system upgrades.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Corporate Controller, Accounting, Manager, or similar role (preferably SaaS, telephony, or tech-focused).
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Experience with cash flow forecasting and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QBO), and ideally, experience with accounting for SaaS platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to analyze financial data and identify gaps in controls or complete and accurate reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team of fractional or full-time support staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, employee benefits, and vendor processes.
  • Experience in cash collections, reducing overdue balances, and improving cash flow.
  • Ability to create and interpret key financial metrics and performance reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving needs.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and integrity.
  • Prior experience in the political or nonprofit sector (especially related to Democratic Party campaigns or charitable organizations) is a plus.

The Offer

  • $160,000 yearly salary (base). As part of our commitment to equity, salaries are non-negotiable: everyone in the same role receives the same salary.
