The Equality Fund is transforming the way that resources—and power—flow into the hands of women, girls, and trans people worldwide. Designed by feminists for feminists, it is a model for sustainably resourcing feminist movements everywhere, through global grantmaking, gender-lens investing, policy advocacy, and feminist philanthropy. Launched in 2019, the Equality Fund has activated $100 million to date which flows to more than 1,800 organizations working across 100 countries.


THE OPPORTUNITY


Reporting to the Vice President, Communications and coordinating closely with the Executive Office, the Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the organization’s mission and impact by ensuring that the Equality Fund’s community of supporters and stakeholders is informed ​​and engaged through strategic communications, a strong public voice, and meaningful events. This role drives communications and engagement by delivering on end-to-end processes to support the organization, finding opportunities for continuous improvement along the way.


SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES


Communications and Engagement

  • Supports day-to-day team organization and operations with items such as scheduling, team meetings, engagement tracking, expense submissions, timeline tracking, event logistics,
  • Schedule and publish content across digital platforms (ex. social media, newsletters, blogs, campaign materials, and website).
  • Help coordinate production of multimedia assets (ex. graphics, videos, presentations) in partnership with staff and external vendors.
  • Monitor digital analytics and compile regular reports to inform content improvements and audience engagement strategies as well as supporting gathering of stories, feedback, and insights from stakeholders to inform organizational messaging, programming, and engagement strategies.
  • Assist with media relations tasks, including conducting media scans, maintaining media lists and tracking coverage.
  • Support and contribute to cross-team collaboration and cross-organizational initiatives to ensure communications and engagement efforts align across programs.
  • Liaises with Finance colleagues on behalf of the Comms team and EF events to facilitate key financial administrative processes including procurement, budgeting, invoices, administrative support, expense claims, payments, and purchase orders;
  • Acts in accordance with our policies around nurturing a safe and respectful work environment; never engaging in harassment, coercion, sexual exploitation or abuse of any form, or anything else contrary to our code of conduct;


Events (in-person and virtual)

  • Plan and execute a range of in-person and virtual events for a diversity of stakeholders (i.e. all staff retreats, external events at large global gatherings such as Women Deliver) from start to finish, in collaboration with the Communications team, Executive Office, and other relevant teams and/or stakeholders, including event planning fluid teams
  • Build out Equality Fund’s events and engagement function, including coordinating, developing, improving, and maintaining tools, processes, systems, and budgets
  • Owns and refines event stewardship process, executing internal and external events in line with strategic vision
  • Coordinate logistics, vendors, budgets, timeline, and production details for online and in-person internal and external engagement activities and events.
  • Track performance, gather feedback, and identify ways to continuously elevate event quality
  • Bring best practices in event planning and execution to EF events
  • Bring sophistication of engagement to our internal and external events, i.e. produced quality with a diversity of stakeholders
  • Bring production value around key integrating moments through polish and coordination


QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES


Experience

  • At least 2 years of events planning, coordination, or management, ideally in contexts related to communications, philanthropy, investment, policy, government, and/or non profits
  • Experience delivering high quality, in-person and virtual events, resulting in strong participant experience
  • Strong organizational skills, resourcefulness, and ability to manage complexity, uncertainty, and multiple stakeholders
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective written communication skills, and the ability to develop policies and procedures to simplify internal and external processes
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • Ability to learn and utilize multiple platforms including project management software, collaboration suites/platforms, enterprise resource planning (ERM), customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, email marketing services, social media, graphic design platform, and content management systems (CMS)
  • Commitment to the work and values of the Equality Fund, which include Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, and Intersectionality; Feminist Leadership; Accountability; and Radical Love
  • Demonstrated high ethical standards, integrity, honesty, and ability to work with sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Training in hospitality, communications, marketing, or a related field is an asset
  • Professional working proficiency in French, Spanish, or another language is an asset

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Available to travel for up to 5 weeks total per year.
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required when coordinating with people in other time zones
  • Willing and able to work remotely on mostly computer-based work

SELECTION PROCESS

  • Equality Fund does not employ the use of AI technology in the screening, recruitment, or selection process.
  • Equality Fund does not take informational interviews during the hiring process. We do this both from an equity perspective and a team capacity consideration as this helps to ensure everyone gets a fair chance in their application and that all candidates have equal access to the information that would help them in the hiring process.
  • Equality Fund will be closed for our winter office closure from December 20, 2025 through January 4, 2026. As such, we will not be able to respond to inquiries during that time.   • Equality Fund’s People, Equity, and Culture team will work with the hiring manager to do an initial screening of applicants.   • When there are many candidates who pass the initial screening, the People, Equity, and Culture team may conduct 15-30 minute phone screening calls.
  • The hiring committee will conduct first round interviews with selected candidates. Candidates will be sent the interview questions 48 hours in advance of their scheduled interview. Candidates are welcome, but not expected or required, to send any questions they have for the hiring committee in advance of the interview. These interviews usually occur 1-2 weeks after the application deadline.
  • The hiring committee may conduct a second round of interviews, which may include an assignment.
  • The People, Equity, and Culture team will conduct reference checks for the candidate to whom they intend to extend an offer. This process usually takes about 1 week.
  • The People, Equity, and Culture team will initiate a background check. This is intended to safeguard Equality Fund employees, grantees, and the organization. We recognize that some communities experience systemic over-policing. As such, only findings related to harassment, exploitation, coercion, sexual exploitation, fraud, abuse, or other findings specifically relevant to the duties of the role will be considered in relation to one’s eligibility for employment.
  • The People, Equity, and Culture team will send the selected candidate an Employment Agreement, which the candidate will have time to review and return.
