How You’ll Contribute

The Brand and Marketing Division uses creative and strategic tools to further the mission of the National Geographic Society (NGS), while maintaining our place as one of the world’s most trusted non-profit organizations and global brands. The Division’s creative minds develop and execute mission-driven, on-brand marketing, creative and media for the National Geographic Society and amplify this content on our own channels, across National Geographic/Disney and through outside partners and earned media. The Division is composed of five integrated departments: Engagement and Marketing Strategy, Brand Strategy, Creative, Communications, and Content and Editorial Strategy.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Content & Editorial Strategy, the Coordinator will fill a critical role within the Content & Editorial team within the Brand and MarketingDivision. The position will provide operational and administrative support to ensure the internal content pipeline and the overall synergy editorial relationship between the Society (non profit) and Disney/National Geographic (media company) organizations remains strong. They will be responsible for the tracking and reporting of all content collaborations between the organizations.

The successful candidate will have experience managing databases and creating visually-appealing pitch materials and presentations, the ability to capture and synthesize information effectively, a familiarity with storytelling and content, and a positive attitude. They will be detail-oriented, meticulous, and possess independent problem-solving ability.

Your Impact

Responsibilities Include

  • Maintain appropriate project management and project tracking software to track and report collaboration projects and Society coverage across all NG/Disney business units. Build relationships with colleagues at Disney to facilitate processes. Prepare regular reporting, including metrics, for leadership. (30%)

  • Provide support in developing concepts and pitch materials and tracking pitches within the Disney ecosystem. Follow up as needed. (20%)

  • Build strategic relationships with NG/Disney colleagues to identify opportunities for collaboration and report major editorial initiatives back to NGS teams. Drive and support the cadence of regular meetings between NGS and NG/Disney, including scheduling, building agendas, and distributing notes. (25%)

  • Own the system for sharing newly-funded work across the NG/Disney ecosystem, with a focus on identifying opportunities within the Level 1 and Level 2 grants. (20%)

  • Provide ongoing administrative and operational support for the Synergy Development & Engagement team, including setting meetings, building presentations, taking meeting notes, and supporting legal and business affairs processes. (5%)

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor's Degree preferred

Minimum Years of Experience

2+ years of relevant experience.

Necessary Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple requests from different team members

  • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to track and report on a high volume of projects

  • Highly organized and motivated individual capable of working effectively with others or independently

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database tools

  • Understanding of content, editorial, and storytelling principles

  • Strong writing skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work through problem-solving on a new team

  • Experience within a fast-paced media or editorial environment

  • Basic understanding of budget and legal terminology a plus

Salary Information

The National Geographic Society offers a competitive and holistic total rewards package. Our compensation structure and transparent pay philosophy are based on industry-specific market data for similar-sized nonprofit organizations.

The salary range for this position accounts for a wide range of factors including but not limited to organizational need; specific skill sets; experience and training; certifications; and more. At the National Geographic Society, individuals are typically hired at or near the starting point of the salary range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

The hourly range for this position is $25.10 - $26.45.

Job Designation

Hybrid - At the Society, we believe in the advantages of coming together to build community, mentor and learn from colleagues, and connect more deeply with our mission. As a result, the majority of our staff are Hybrid. Our Hybrid category requires that staff work at Base Camp two days each week: every Tuesday and Wednesday. Hybrid staff are also always welcome to come in additional days each week if preferred.
