Summary:
The Trevor Project is looking to hire a copyediting and copywriting specialist to unify our brand voice and create owned content for our audience of more than 2 million people. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Content, this person will be responsible for bringing our brand to life through creative copy across all platforms and providing copyediting support for teams making content requests for external facing communications. They will work within the Marketing & Content department and coordinate with teams across the Advancement vertical and larger organization to understand and support the current and future strategic direction of the organization. We’re looking for someone who is creative and dynamic, with experience copywriting and copyediting for SEO, email marketing, brand marketing, and social marketing. Your work will help connect us authentically to LGBTQ+ youth and the adults who support the efforts of our organization, helping you be a part of our mission in saving LGBTQ+ young lives.

Manage the drafting of copy across various platforms based on owned marketing activations, campaigns, and cross-team project support requests
Check the work of internal and external communications for any grammatical errors or typos, ensuring we are always putting out only the highest quality work and match the overall brand tone and voice
Work with internal subject matter experts to create educational resources, such as handbooks and guides, as well as social-first promotional copy for each resource
Work with our video editor to draft scripts for organic and paid social activations and campaigns
Write blogs and other online resources optimized for SEO, AEO, and GEO
Find creative ways to develop our brand voice, work with our data to identify what is/isn’t working well, and iterate on what can be improved upon
Demonstrate fair, ethical, and equitable business practices
Handle sensitive and confidential matters/ data with the utmost discretion and integrity
Learn eagerly, share knowledge appropriately, and improve continuously
Demonstrate successful planning and problem-solving skills, including multitasking and working well within tight timelines
Work, communicate, and collaborate effectively with others
Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in all work
Demonstrate a commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of belonging
Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned
Minimum 2 years experience copywriting and copyediting in an agency or internal team environment for brand marketing
Proficiency in:
LGBTQ+ topics and discourse in media
Google Suite (GMail, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets)
Content development, including self-directed research and interviews, to support the creation of videos, guides, blogs, op-eds, and other brand related content
Giving and receiving constructive feedback in a collaborative work environment
Project management (Trevor uses Asana)
Proficiency in spoken and written English
