The Corporate Engagement Officer will act as a point of contact for partners in their portfolio, liaising with them and informing them of RMI’s organizational and programmatic impact.

This role will spend significant time stewarding relationships with existing corporate partners while identifying and cultivating new corporate prospects for RMI. Additional responsibilities include supporting the growth of corporate contributions, sponsorships, grants, and other program-aligned partnership opportunities.

The Corporate Engagement Officer will be a key contributor to the Development and Corporate Engagement teams and will be essential to the achievement of the organization’s fundraising, partnership, and impact goals. As needed, this position may also provide support across RMI’s donor and partner portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Management

  • Manage and grow revenue from a portfolio of current and prospective corporate partners and complex institutional accounts with annual revenue of $500k+ to RMI.

  • Within a portfolio, support all aspects of partner relationships, including coordinating conversations, preparing outreach, submitting proposals and reports, and responding to inquiries.

  • Create touch points with corporate partners through meetings with RMI staff, proactive outreach and scheduling, preparation of meeting briefings with strategic goals and background, development of meeting content, and follow-up after meetings.

  • Provide regular updates to Development and Corporate Engagement leadership on partner conversations, pipelines, opportunities, and relationship status.

  • Ensure corporate partners are appropriately acknowledged and featured in RMI reports, stewardship materials, events, and other key communications, where relevant.

Strategic Engagement

  • With programmatic staff, support the creation of corporate engagement strategies and cases for support.

  • Through research and active conversations, understand corporate partners’ sustainability priorities, climate commitments, business context, philanthropic interests, and partnership goals to effectively represent RMI’s work.

  • Identify, qualify, solicit, and steward new corporate prospects capable of making five-, six-, and seven-figure contributions, sponsorships, grants, or other strategic commitments.

  • Provide a high-quality experience for corporate partners and potential partners through education and engagement on RMI’s program portfolio.

  • Travel to meet with corporate partners and prospects where they are, including at U.S. and global conferences, convenings, and partner meetings.

Proposal Development and Reporting

  • Support and lead, as appropriate, the development of compelling corporate proposals, partnership concepts, letters of inquiry, pitch materials, stewardship reports, and associated budgets to meet partner deadlines and expectations.

  • Collaborate with program, accounting, finance, legal, and communications teams to ensure timely submissions of proposals, grant applications, partnership materials, and reports.

  • Oversee or support the creation and timely submission of regular stewardship reports to corporate partners, including narrative, impact, and financial reports as needed.

  • Respond to partner requests as they emerge to resolve edits to proposals, budgets, partnership concepts, scopes of work, and reporting materials.

  • Review proposal budgets and partnership deliverables to ensure alignment with program budgets, partner expectations, and RMI’s internal requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with program teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of RMI’s work and its alignment with corporate partners’ priorities.

  • Prepare briefings, strategic plans, talking points, and communications materials for partner meetings, drawing from the expertise of program teams and senior leadership.

  • Serve as a lead Development or Corporate Engagement point of contact for one to two RMI programs, supporting corporate engagement pipelines, partner strategy, and fundraising materials.

  • Provide guidance and feedback on corporate-facing materials and ensure program representatives have the information needed to engage with corporate partners.

  • Inform the Development and Corporate Engagement teams of major program updates, partner intelligence, market trends, and strategic opportunities on a regular basis.

Database Management and Reporting

  • Utilize Salesforce to document moves management, corporate engagement pipelines, relationship history, opportunity stages, revenue projections, and accurate relationship status.

  • Utilize Monday.com or other project management systems to highlight upcoming reporting, proposal, stewardship, or partner engagement deadlines.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of partner interactions, next steps, deliverables, commitments, and risks.

Team Contribution

  • As needed, work across the Development and Corporate Engagement teams to cover accounts for colleagues on leave and/or provide surge support in priority areas.

  • Actively participate in Development Team and Corporate Engagement meetings, initiatives, and culture.

  • Support the implementation of short- and long-term development and corporate engagement objectives.

  • Contribute to overall Development Team strategy, Corporate Engagement strategy, and RMI’s organizational mission.

  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
