BACKGROUND
MEDA is an international economic development organization whose mission is to create business solutions to poverty. Founded in 1953 by a group of business professionals, MEDA partners with the poor to start or grow small and medium-sized businesses in developing regions around the world.
MEDA implements the Resilience and Inclusion through Investment for Sustainable Agrikultura (RIISA) Project, which aims to strengthen inclusive, climate-resilient, and sustainable market systems in the cacao sector in the Philippines. The project integrates gender equality, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and good governance across all interventions.
Effective communication is critical to documenting project progress, sharing results, engaging stakeholders, and meeting donor visibility and reporting requirements.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Support the RIISA Project’s communications and visibility requirements by developing compelling digital, visual, and multimedia content that:
- Communicates project activities, results, and impact;
- Engages key stakeholders, including cacao market system actors, smallholder farmers, partner institutions, and government agencies;
- Promotes best practices related to gender equality, social inclusion, environmental stewardship, climate change mitigation, and good governance; and
- Ensures compliance with MEDA branding standards and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) visibility guidelines.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Creative Content Creator (the Contractor) will be responsible for developing content materials aligned with the project’s communications plan and annual priorities. The Contractor will work closely with the RIISA Project Team to design, produce, and disseminate content across appropriate digital platforms.
The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:
- Development of social media, digital, and video-based content;
- Recommendation of effective content formats and delivery strategies for targeted audiences;
- Support to stakeholder engagement and knowledge-sharing initiatives;
- Documentation of project activities, events, and outcomes;
- Ensuring consistent messaging, ethical storytelling, and donor visibility across all outputs.
Target audiences include cacao industry market system actors, smallholder farmers, cooperatives, agribusinesses, partner organizations, financial institutions, and relevant government agencies.
KEY TASK AND DELIVERABLES
The Contractor shall deliver the following output-based tasks and deliverables based on RIISA’s existing knowledge management products:
- Social Media Content Calendar – A monthly content calendar outlining schedules, themes, captions, and hashtags aligned with RIISA Project activities;
- Social Media Posts – Creation of engaging and visually appealing posts for relevant platforms, including the RIISA Official Facebook page;
- Content Review and Research – Review of RIISA Project reference materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment of messaging;
- Video Scripts – Development of scripts for video content, including introductions, key messages, and calls to action;
- Storyboards – Preparation of visual storyboards outlining video scenes, shots, and transitions;
- Video Content Production – Creation and editing of RIISA Project impact stories using existing materials;
- Infographics – Design of visually engaging infographics presenting project data, key messages and impact stories
- Animated and Motion Graphics – Development of animated or motion graphics to enhance digital and video content;
- Livestream Content – Planning and execution of live-streamed sessions (e.g., Facebook Live) for events or announcements;
- Photography – Capture of high-quality photographs during project activities and events;
- Caption Writing and Copywriting – Development of engaging, accurate, and audience-appropriate captions and short-form copy;
- Branding and Visual Identity Compliance – Ensuring all content adheres to MEDA and RIISA branding guidelines and GAC visibility requirements;
- Final Content Submission – Submission of final copies (digital and hard copies, when required) of all content produced under the contract as part of the Contractor’s final report.
DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The contract will be for a period of twelve (12) months—3 person days per week, commencing on April 1, 2026, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and project requirements.
REPORTING AND COORDINATION
The Creative Content Creator will report to the Impact and Knowledge Management Lead. Regular coordination meetings will be held to review progress, align on priorities, and provide feedback on deliverables.
All outputs shall be submitted to MEDA for review and approval prior to publication or dissemination.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Multimedia Arts, Development Studies, or a related field;
- At least two (2) years of relevant experience in content creation, digital communications, or multimedia production;
- Strong writing and storytelling skills in English; knowledge of Filipino is an advantage;
- Demonstrated experience managing or producing content for social media platforms;
- Proficiency in basic graphic design and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or similar).
Preferred:
- Experience working with NGOs, donor-funded projects, or development organizations;
- Familiarity with gender equality, social inclusion, agriculture, climate change, or ESG-related communications;
- Experience in field documentation, including photo and video storytelling;
- Knowledge of social media analytics and audience engagement strategies.
Ethical Standards and Confidentiality
The Contractor shall observe ethical standards in content creation, including informed consent, respectful representation of beneficiaries, and data privacy. All materials produced under this assignment shall remain the property of MEDA and may not be used or distributed without prior written consent.
