The Creative Lab sits within Spotify Advertising, the business unit within Spotify that focuses on connecting brands to billions of fans around the world. Our team is Spotify Advertising’s in-house creative agency, responsible for building branded experiences. We collaborate with brands and agencies to inspire, create, and scale creativity with Spotify-first thinking.


We are seeking a seasoned leader to join our talented Creative Strategy team in Milan, Italy, for a 12 month fixed term contract.


The creative strategy team is dedicated to inspiring the best ideas centered around Spotify through proactive and reactive responses to creative briefs, and co-creating with our biggest brands, agencies and creators. We are storytellers who are obsessed with how ideas can be brought to life through the superpowers of our platform, and we are looking for someone to help champion the potential of our products and offerings, and elevate our work.


The ideal candidate is first and foremost a visionary strategist who lives and breathes the intersection of technology and storytelling. They are multifaceted in skills: can one day deliver audience-centric ideas that deliver on brand objectives; on another meet with CCOs or CMOs to inspire them on future innovations for their brands; and on yet another day, build narratives and frameworks to help internal and external stakeholders understand the creative opportunities on our platform.


Experience working with local teams in Italy as well as with global teams is a huge advantage, as is experience working at brands, agencies and tech platforms. They will report directly into the regional lead for Creative Lab, EMEA.


And along the way? They will build a portfolio of work that wins awards and recognition throughout the tech and creative industries to prove that creativity on Spotify is the key to amplifying communications in a complex and crowded IRL and digital landscape.

What You'll Do
  • Own and lead creativity on the platform in the market, in deep partnership with the Head of Sales in Italy
  • Partner with clients and agencies to develop award-winning, best in class advertising on Spotify
  • Support the sales strategy for Italy; develop, plan and scale the approach to supporting top clients; driving approach to JBP support and coordination
  • Creating compelling creative narratives & initiatives that drive awareness and build demand with creative and media agencies as well as brand marketers
  • Facilitate inspirational workshops with senior level partners to find the right balance of boundary pushing creative expression and brand realities
  • Be a Spotify evangelist, inspiring marketers and agencies through creative workshops or at industry events
  • Develop creative thought leadership on industry, advertising, visual and digital culture and trends as input and fodder to inspire internal and external partners
  • Manage operational responsibilities including tracking and reporting processes to ensure impact is captured and efficiency is top of mind
  • Work closely with other teams, including our mighty ops and production team, our Creative Intelligence team, and a strong bench of other global creative leads


Who You Are
  • 8+ years of experience in creative direction, creative strategy at a platform, media brand or creative agency
  • World class presenter with an ability to tell stories about creative work through the lens of culture for Spotify to audiences of all sizes; from a small room with CMOs of a large brand, to large formats like conferences and on stages
  • Ability to develop compelling, thought provoking creative and strategic narratives that best demonstrate the creative potential of our platform
  • A quick problem solver who can collaborate well with internal and external stakeholders like contractors and vendors to bring ideas to life
  • Experience managing own workflows, e.g. managing budgets, process and ways of working internally and externally
  • Experience working with senior level stakeholders at agencies and brands
  • Keen observer and documentor of culture, with a keen understanding of what is relevant and an eye for upcoming visual, digital and tech trends
  • Expert written and verbal communicator, with the ability to articulate abstract creative concepts and persuade audiences when required
  • Deep understanding of integrated marketing development, tech platforms and social media landscape, with experience in digital first production
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and across collaborators in business marketing, brand, and product teams to build consensus on shared initiatives
  • Highly organized and strong operational skills with the ability to work across time zones and markets
  • Fluent Italian and English language, spoken and written is required

  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come into the office 2-3 times per week.
