Position title: Data Management Intern
Duty station: UNHCR Thailand Multi-country Office, Bangkok, Thailand
Duration: From 1 October 2025 to 31 December 2025 (Tentative)
Direct Supervisor: Senior Data Management Assistant

1. General Background
The Data Management intern will support in the coordination of data management efforts across UNHCR Thailand’s operations for Urban and Camps. In Thailand, data is at the heart of evidence-based planning, protection, and service delivery for persons of concern (PoCs), including refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons, and host communities.
A Data Management Intern supports this critical function by ensuring timely data entry, integrity, and dissemination—contributing to UNHCR’s mandate to deliver data-driven assistance. Structure, standards, and systems (such as proGres v4) are employed to compile, analyze, and visualize data to inform decision-making.
The role has strong emphasis on supporting operational data (including individual-level data), conducting data quality assurance, promoting responsible data sharing, and advancing data-driven decision-making across the office and inter-agency platforms.
2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment
• Generate statistical and summary reports, tables, charts, and infographics to support internal and external information needs.
• Ensuring that electronic files are properly categorized, securely stored, and accessible in accordance with UNHCR’s data protection policies and confidentiality standards.
• Supporting the transition from paper-based documentation to digital formats, ensuring compliance with UNHCR’s digital archiving and retention procedures.
• Assisting in the organization, scanning, uploading, and digital filing of documents, including registration forms, RSD/RST decisions, case correspondence, and protection assessments, using established naming conventions and folder structures.
• Performing data cleaning, validation, and quality control checks in coordination with the Information Management Officer or Registration team.
• Collaborate with Protection and other Field Units to respond to routine data queries and support evidence-based planning.
• Undertake other data management-related tasks as required.
4. Qualifications and Experience

Essential
Knowledge in data management and data analysis to support policy formulation and implementation.

Desirable
Demonstrated knowledge in the digitization of physical files, including scanning, labeling, organizing, and uploading documents into structured electronic filing systems (e.g., SharePoint).

Education

• The candidate must be a recent graduate (those persons who completed their studies within one year of applying) or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO. The candidate must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field of information technology, Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or relevant of interest to the work of the Organization.
