SUMMARY 

The Database Developer plays a key role in developing and maintaining Global Fund for Women’s highly customized database, which supports core operations across the organization. Working collaboratively in a team-based environment, this role contributes to the ongoing evolution of the organization’s database system on the Salesforce platform and its related integrations, automations, and enhancements--while also supporting system administration and technical guidance to staff.   

 

Grounded in a participatory, user-centered design approach, the Database Developer actively engages with diverse stakeholders to support holistic approaches to organizational needs, ensuring that solutions are secure, scalable, and responsive. 

 

This position will be critical in maintaining continuity, supporting staff capacity, and laying the foundation to further evolve information and knowledge management as a strategic capability. 

    

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Participatory Design, Development, and Integration: 

  • Using a participatory design process, work closely with team members and staff on other teams to develop extensible solutions that improve work processes and support evolving needs across the organization, utilizing and expanding on the existing code base. 
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with internal and external partners around business processes and systems needs. 
  • Inform and contribute to the ongoing design, development, and maintenance of the organization’s database and online portals, as well as integrations with other applications. 
  • Partner with staff to enhance in-house infrastructure to support effective integration of business processes and information systems across the organization. 
  • Promote database integrity, security, and system scalability. 

 

Collaboration and Capacity Building: 

  • Engage with staff across teams to provide technical assistance and enhance individual and team-based knowledge and skills with the database. 
  • Document and provide training on system processes and data standards to strengthen organizational knowledge management. 
  • Help create and foster a culture of shared learning and continual development of skills and expertise. 
  • Collaborate across the organization to ensure platforms are in compliance with industry best practices for security and data governance, and are strategically aligned and effective. 
  • Champion a collaborative, participatory, capacity-building approach to business processes and systems
    to support data-driven learning, accountability, and decision-making across the organization.

KEY SKILLS/WAYS OF DOING  

Required  

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science or equivalent work experience 
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable work experience in database architecture and as a Salesforce developer, preferably in a non-profit context 
  • Experience developing in Apex, Lightning Web Components and javascript, Visualforce, and other Salesforce development technologies. 
  • Experience using SFDX, Git, and VS Code to streamline development, testing, and deployment processes. 
  • Proficient understanding of Salesforce administration and data model, including standard and custom objects, relationships and fields.  
  • Knowledge of and experience with data migration and API systems integrations. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to understand, assess, and articulate complex processes with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Experience in participatory design or a similar user-centered design paradigm 
  • Experience working in a diverse, team-oriented, and fast-paced environment 
  • Experience leading projects and independently managing work 

 

Strongly Preferred   

  • Experience with process design and information or knowledge management 
  • Fluency in NPSP or similar fundraising platform for Salesforce 
  • Salesforce Developer/Architect certification 
  • Experience with AI-based automation and functionality in Salesforce (Einstein Analytics, Agentforce) 

 

Salary range of $92,000 - $135,000*

*This range is reflective of our high-market geo and will vary based on the candidate’s city and state of residence.
