About the Team

The GSMA Industry Security team is continually enhancing the support offered to its membership as the threats targeting the mobile ecosystem emerge. Our vision is to provide value for our membership in three main areas:

  • Industry collaboration by convening membership to define industry specifications, facilitating intelligence sharing, promoting baseline controls, conducting external collaboration to ensure industry alignment

  • Providing expertise through subject matter experts by supporting solution and service offering development to internal and external stakeholders, as well as promoting industry Fraud and Security awareness

  • Defining the future by looking forward by assessing, analysing and reporting on the industry threat landscape. This is also done through engagement with standards bodies and reviewing new technologies to ensure adequate protection by design

About the Role

The Director, Global Anti-Fraud and Scam Prevention will lead GSMA’s cross-industry scam prevention strategy, bringing together mobile operators, financial institutions, regulators, and technology providers to combat scams and fraud targeting mobile networks.

This role requires a visionary leader who can take ownership, develop and execute a fraud intelligence-sharing framework, enhance fraud detection capabilities, and drive global regulatory advocacy. You will be responsible for delivering a structured anti-fraud roadmap, enabling industry-wide collaboration, and ensuring fraud prevention initiatives have measurable impact.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Leadership – Lead and evolve the Global Scam Prevention Initiative, aligning technical, operational, and policy-driven fraud solutions into a cohesive cross-industry strategy

Delivery and execution – Ownership and delivery of scam prevention initiatives, ensuring measurable impact, reporting and innovation

Cross-industry collaboration and governance – Serve as the primary liaison between mobile operators, banks, regulators, and cybersecurity bodies to drive steering committee, industry platforms and aligning back with responsible GSMA teams

About You

  • Proven leadership in fraud and scam prevention, cybersecurity, risk management, or digital transformation within a telecom, financial institution, or fraud intelligence provider

  • Technical awareness of AI/ML-powered fraud detection, digital security frameworks, and telco fraud controls, or be able to work with others to make up for gaps in your experience

  • Deep understanding of telecom fraud mechanisms, including SIM swap fraud, call/SMS scams, phishing, and AI-driven fraud attacks

  • Track record in leading transformation programmes, or strong cross-industry collaboration experience, with expertise in aligning telcos and financial services on fraud mitigation strategies

  • Strong stakeholder management and executive influence, capable of engaging C-level leaders, policymakers, and cross-sector partners

  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex fraud risk topics to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Display cultural understanding and sensitivity, recognising that GSMA is a global organisation with members from many countries and cultures

  • Be willing to do some global travels as required
