SUMMARY

Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is an accredited not-for-profit institution of higher education serving thousands of educators from across the country, from pre-service teachers to system-level leaders. The Marketing team drives Relay’s brand awareness, sharpens its messaging, and deepens engagement with core audiences to support revenue growth and advance its mission and vision. The Director, Marketing Operations and Implementation serves as the operational backbone of the team, owning the buildout, management, and optimization of Relay’s marketing technology infrastructure, with HubSpot as the central platform. This role provides organization wide visibility into all campaigns, from state level recruitment efforts to national brand initiatives, ensuring alignment, coordination, and real time insight for leadership. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing, the Director partners closely with Teacher Preparation, Professional Education, and the Director of Brand and Communications to translate strategy and creative direction into fully built, launched, and measurable campaigns.

The ideal candidate thrives in a CRM environment, thinks in workflows and segmentation, and takes pride in strong technical execution. They are comfortable building systems from the ground up while managing multiple concurrent campaigns across varying scopes and audiences, ensuring campaigns are executed accurately, on time, and with measurable impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential responsibilities of this position, while not limited to the following, will include:

HubSpot Platform Ownership & CRM Management (35%)

  •  Work in partnership with the technology team to fully build out, configure, and manage HubSpot as Relay’s central marketing platform.
  •  Lead the migration of contacts and data from Slate and existing spreadsheets into a unified, clean HubSpot database with proper segmentation and tagging structures.
  • Design and manage list protocols, including segmentation, suppression, data hygiene, and lifecycle stages for B2C (teachers) and B2B (district/school) audiences.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and platform governance to ensure consistent usage and data integrity across teams.
  •  Evaluate and implement integrations between HubSpot and other tools in Relay’s ecosystem (e.g., Slate, website, analytics platforms) to ensure seamless data flow.
  •  Maintain compliance with data privacy regulations and internal governance protocols to ensure ethical and secure handling of contact data.

Campaign Build & Execution (40%)

  • Build and launch marketing campaigns in HubSpot, translating strategy and creative direction into fully constructed, scheduled, and executed campaigns.
  • Develop email workflows and automation for Teacher Preparation (application → enrollment) and Professional Education (awareness → meeting → contract) pipelines.
  • Manage end-to-end email execution, including template builds, dynamic content, A/B testing, scheduling, and list targeting.
  • Create and maintain automation workflows (trigger-based, re-engagement, event-driven, and cross-business flows).
  • Build and optimize landing pages, forms, and conversion assets in HubSpot aligned to campaign goals.
  • Partner with Teacher Preparation and Professional Education teams to translate enrollment timelines and audience needs into technical campaign builds.
  • Coordinate multi-channel execution to ensure alignment, timing consistency, and cohesive audience experiences.
  • Own campaign calendar and scheduling to ensure on-time delivery and prevent audience overlap or fatigue.
  • Manage multiple concurrent campaigns (state-level recruitment to national brand initiatives), ensuring timely launch and tracking.
  • Maintain real-time visibility into all campaign activity, providing clear updates to the VP of Marketing and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead project management for campaign operations, aligning timelines, dependencies, and deliverables across Marketing and internal teams.

Performance Tracking, Reporting & Optimization (25%)

  • Build and maintain HubSpot dashboards tracking campaign performance, lead generation, funnel progression, and marketing ROI.
  • Define and monitor baseline metrics (cost of acquisition, conversion rates by source/segment, engagement benchmarks, pipeline velocity).
  • Deliver actionable performance reporting to the VP of Marketing, highlighting campaign impact, list health, automation effectiveness, and funnel insights.
  • Develop attribution frameworks to measure marketing’s contribution to revenue across both business lines.
  • Recommend and track KPIs across channels to drive continuous optimization.
  • Standardize tracking processes, identify workflow inefficiencies, and implement improvements to increase speed and accuracy.
  • Partner with Partnerships, IT, and Student Affairs to resolve data integrity and systems issues.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned in support of the team’s goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

First and foremost, the Director of Marketing Operations and Implementation must share the Relay community’s commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher preparation grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. This includes providing teacher preparation programs that equip novice teachers to succeed in the classroom from day one; leadership programs that train new and veteran school and district leaders to best serve their school communities; and teacher-facing professional education that provides ongoing learning for educators. Additionally, for this position, we’re looking for candidates who possess a combination of the following skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of marketing operations experience
  • Demonstrated experience building workflows and managing the CRM platform
  • Proven expertise in marketing automation, email campaign construction, list management, and workflow design.
  • Experience building reporting dashboards and attribution models to track campaign performance and marketing ROI.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, including segmentation, lifecycle stages, data hygiene, and integration logic.
  • Effective collaborator with experience working cross-functionally across various departments to translate business needs into technical campaign execution.
  • Proficient project management capabilities with a track record of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent campaigns of varying scale and complexity across different audiences, geographies, or business lines.
  • Comfortable operating in a build-phase environment where systems, processes, and workflows are being established for the first time.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new marketing technology platforms and evolving organizational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and managing HubSpot.
  • HubSpot certifications (Marketing Hub, Operations Hub, or CRM implementation).
  • Experience with education, non-profit, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Familiarity with Slate or other higher education enrollment management systems.
  • Experience managing both B2C and B2B campaign operations within a single platform.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS for email template customization and landing page optimization.
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and familiarity with SQL for data queries.
  • Experience with marketing operations in a complex organization serving multiple business lines or audiences.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet) for managing cross-functional campaign workflows.

COMPENSATION

Relay is committed to creating and maintaining a compensation and benefits system that supports our ability to recruit and retain a diverse and talented team. As we make decisions about compensation, we will be guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal equity. The salary range for this role is $96,525 - $135,135. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range, $96,525 to allow for an equitable starting salary process and continual salary growth during an employee’s time at Relay GSE.

  • Relay does not currently differentiate starting salary offers based on years of experience
  • All staff salaries will be capped at the salary range maximum, and
  • Relay does not negotiate salary offers.
