Position Overview:
Global Citizen’s Public Relations department is seeking a dynamic PR professional with a passion for innovative storytelling, sharp news sense, a strong contact list of industry-leading journalists, and a drive to make a positive global impact.
The ideal candidate will have experience executing rollouts of large-scale public relations campaigns, be a self-starter, and the ability to work across international markets simultaneously. The candidate will also need to have the flexibility to adapt quickly, sharp attention to detail, a positive, solution-oriented mindset, tight organization skills, and the confidence to work with internal counterparts and external press agencies across all professional levels.
This role will be responsible for leading on outreach and maintaining relationships with journalists at key US media outlets and platforms, formulating innovative and timely pitches that elevate Global Citizen’s campaigns, events and executive spokespeople to new and existing audiences across sectors. Experience working with media for large-scale events is a must. The Director, Public Relations & Communications will develop and execute PR strategies for priority initiatives in close coordination with the Artist Relations, Marketing, Brand Partnerships and Global Policy & Advocacy departments, with support from external PR agencies around the world. The ideal candidate will have a robust contact list of key reporters in verticals including music & entertainment, policy, philanthropy and/or business; outstanding writing and communication skills; confidence working across time zones, languages and cultures; experience working on large-scale live events; and knowledge of tools and platforms such as Muck Rack, Meltwater, and PR Newswire.
