The Role

The District Coordinator (DC) will report to the Senior State Program Coordinator and will be required to act as the leader of a team of Field Coordinators conducting numerous activities on the ground in coordination with stakeholders. The DC will be responsible for government advocacy efforts at the district level to train on our Safe Water program operations, direct coordination of the different stakeholders involved, and engage with government officials to ensure the correct implementation of the program. The DC will be also responsible for coordinating a team of Field Coordinators who will be in charge of similar tasks at the sub-district/block/mandal level.

Responsibilities

Field Team Coordination and Monitoring (50%)

  • Lead a team of Field Coordinators to ensure the effective implementation of the Safe Water program across stakeholders. Supervise village- and district-level program teams to ensure timely execution and optimal utilization of field resources.
  • Oversee data collection and the execution of deliverables by partner agencies, including installations, community engagement sessions, and training. Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of in-line chlorinator devices across all district locations.
  • Conduct regular field visits to intervention locations to provide programmatic and technical support. Ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of operations across all allocated areas.

Government advocacy and stakeholder engagement (30%)

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with senior regional and district officials to serve as a trusted resource. All high-level interactions must align with state office guidelines and receive prior supervisor approval. 
  • Technical support to district authorities in developing water Inline chlorination related documents and tools, ensuring they are established for long-term sustainability.
  • Deliver targets set by Sr. SPCs for government engagement activities, with end-to-end ownership and accountability for field deliverables.
  • Lead training initiatives for district-level officials to ensure the effective implementation of the Safe Water program, Coordination with Government officials and internal team for the training sessions delivered by Field Coordinators.

State-level programmatic and planning support (20%)   

  • Support the Senior State Program Coordinator in developing and managing work plans and timelines to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Review program activities and reports on a weekly basis, identify performance gaps in field implementation, and take corrective actions as per internally developed SOPs and systems, while effectively escalating any risks or challenges affecting quality and timelines.
  • Coordinate with Sr. SPC and state team members to conduct focused studies - such as adaptive assessments, root cause analyses, back-checks, and mandal-level FGDs - along with other priority initiatives.

Essential

  • Experience providing technical and advisory services to Governments or working with Governments on the development sector (preferably the Water/WASH sector)
  • Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher plus 4-6 years of experience in the development sector preferably in the field of Water, Public Health, Sanitation, and Hygiene with government or NGOs
  • Experience handling teams and managing work plans to hold team members accountable to target timelines
  • Experience successfully implementing large-scale programs and overseeing complex program operations with vendors involved
  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and documentation skills in Hindi/Telugu and English. Understanding of local dialects as per district will also be a required asset
  • Willingness to travel at least 70% of the time
  • A valid driving license and a vehicle (2/4 Wheeler). (Please note that the organization will not be providing any dedicated vehicle as per company policy. Consultants are responsible for making arrangements for their own vehicles). Travel expenses will be provided as per organizational reimbursement policies
  • Submission of a copy of a driving license is a must
  • Experience with computers and Microsoft Office, especially data Computer skills, MS Office

Desirable

  • Broad understanding of the functionaries & process of the PR&RD/ RWS&S system 
  • Experience capacity-building government stakeholders at the district level and below

Position Location

This is a 1 year fixed-term employment role based in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The role is location-specific, with positions distributed across the districts. Candidates applying are requested to indicate their preferred working locations (Vizianagaram/ASR) as part of the application questions. Please note that while preferences will be considered, final placements will be determined based on business requirements.

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with the individual's credentials, experience, and previous pay scale.
