Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organization. We work to reduce and prevent violence, protect civilians and build peace together with communities in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath through the implementation of unarmed civilian protection programming. NP implements programming through the deployment of civilian protection teams to the field and is continuing to scale up to meet the growing needs in the communities we serve. Programming is founded on Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP) and is thematically focused on, interrupting cycles of violence, building trust and peaceful co-existence among divided communities and women inclusion and participation.


OVERVIEW


The driver is a member of the Operations Team responsible for providing transport and logistics assistance to the mission under the direction of the Operations Manager, fleet officer, and Team Leader. This includes transporting team members to meetings and other activities. It also involves providing assistance with the procurement and delivery of goods for the team of NP as well as any other activities relevant to the role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Transport

  • Transport members of the location-based programme implementation team to meetings and other events both in office as well as to field sites within Iraq, informing line manager of any delays or concerns
  • Follow NP safety and security guidelines for drivers.
  • Keep passengers and pedestrians safe.
  • Treat vehicles properly and avoid damage caused by reckless driving.
  • Keep vehicle in good condition, cleaning them weekly.
  • Maintain fuel levels in the vehicle in line with SOPs.
  • Report any problems and perform daily service checks.
  • Perform daily service and weekly vehicle inspections and report any problems immediately.


Procurement and logistics

  • Assist Logistics Officer and caretaking staff with procuring supplies and undertaking collection/delivery as directed.
  • Assist in general maintenance (guest house and office) activities around the office.
  • Conduct and perform any other any other responsibility assigned by the supervisor.

Education, Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience as a driver, knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance

  • A full, clean driver’s license is required.
