How You’ll Contribute
The Shift Leader is responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance program during the assigned shift. Also responsible for the supervision, motivation and discipline of the 3 employees assigned to this shift. The shift handles demands for all after hour functions of the Society such as temperature, lighting, power or any other requirement the function may have. The shift leader will know all building systems, hours of operations for the various systems, ability to program systems via our EMS, able to handle multiple situations in a professional manner. The person in this position is considered essential personnel. Essential personnel is defined in section 5 of this document.Your Impact
Responsibilities
Minimum Education Required
A high school graduate with extensive continuing education in the fields of engineering and maintenance either from community college, trade or technical schools or the National Association of Power Engineers Education Foundation. A 3rd class District of Columbia Steam Operators license and Universal CFC certification is required. A minimum of 24 hours per year of continuing education in the engineering field is a job requirement.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience
Proven supervisory skills and 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience are required.
Knowledge and Skills Required
This person will have extensive practical experience in the areas of HVAC, steam boilers, centrifugal chillers, refrigeration systems, VAV and variable frequency drives, energy management systems, fire alarm and fire suppression systems, water treatment systems and practices, packaged AC units, commercial food service equipment and all other systems necessary for providing a first class working environment in a class A office complex. Must have computer skills and knowledge of standard MicroSoft software programs. Must have good oral and written communication skills.

Resident - Our Resident category recognizes that certain staff need to be physically present at Base Camp to do their work. Some Resident staff must be at Base Camp every day to do their jobs, while others may only need to be physically present onsite some of the time to meet looming deadlines or to get work done and may require a unique schedule. As such, this category has been revised to provide maximum flexibility depending on what’s required for each individual role. The days Resident staff come into the office will be determined by their teams and workflow, and they should work with their supervisors to determine their specific schedule. And throughout the year, their schedule may be adjusted based on cyclical work cycles, deadlines, and/or ebbs and flows of work.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
