Job Title: Expense Management Specialist


Position Summary:

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research ("the Foundation") is seeking top talent for its Expense Management Specialist position.  Reporting to the Director of Research Budget Operations, this role sits on the Budget Operations team and supports forecasting, tracking financials, coordinating expenses, and evaluating key metrics. 

This position can be based anywhere in the U.S. and will be expected to work east coast hours (standard business hours are 9:00am – 5:00pmEST).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the timely processing of contract payments and promptly resolve contract payment issues in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders  
  • Review and approve expenses in the expense management platform (or similar applications) charged to departmental chart strings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies 
  • Work closely with department heads and operational leads to ensure appropriate expense coding and accurate tracking of Research-related expenses 
  • Collect, validate, and consolidate budget and spend inputs from internal stakeholders related to anticipated operational costs (e.g., ancillary payments, meetings and events, vendor-related expenses) to support Budget Operations monitoring and planning activities 
  • Maintain, update, and reconcile expense and budget-related trackers used by the Budget Operations team and Operations Leads, ensuring consistency, timeliness, and data integrity across reporting tools 
  • Routinely review existing workflows, trackers, and systems and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, transparency, and accuracy in expense tracking and coordination 
  • Leverage financial management systems to collect and enter data that supports compliance monitoring, expense reporting, and operational analysis 


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience in supporting accounting, expense management, or budget operations activities 
  • Experience working with financial or database systems 
  • Strong analytical and communication skills 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and working with trackers 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests and deadlines 

 

 

Compensation & Benefits
Individual compensation for this role is dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, skillsets, and applicable laws.  In addition to salary, the Foundation offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Salary Range
$80,000$95,000 USD
