Role: Field Consultant

Location: Bangladesh
Position Type: Contract-based full-time role
Contract Duration - 4 months (extension on need basis)


We seek a highly motivated and dependable candidate with experience in fieldwork, field coordination, or research support, who is comfortable working closely with factory stakeholders and field teams. The selected candidate will play a key role in coordinating with Shahi factories in Bangladesh to facilitate data collection activities, support qualitative interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs), and assist in the smooth execution of fieldwork.


What will you do (areas that will play to your strength and all the responsibilities we will trust you with):

1. Qualitative Research & Data Collection

  • Plan and execute field data collection, including surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs).
  • Assist the research team with questionnaire preparation, transcription, and translation as required.
  • Ensure high-quality data collection following GBL standards.
  • Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of data and comply with GBL’s data protection policies.

2. Project Implementation & Management

  • Develop and implement field plans, timelines, and resource allocation for daily operations.
  • Conduct the qualitative interviews and surveys either in-person and/or telephonically, as per the study protocol
  • Monitor project progress, identify challenges, and implement solutions.
  • Manage internal coordination with members of the research study, and external coordination and communication with firms on a regular basis, and as needed by the study

3. Staff Management & Training

  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training survey staff, including supervisors and enumerators.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing feedback and support.

4. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with factory management, workers, and clinic staff to facilitate the study objectives.
  • Address concerns and queries from field teams and stakeholders.

5. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
  • Prepare detailed reports on project progress, challenges, and key findings.


Who are you? Ideally, you have (The areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role):

  • 1-2 years of experience in project management and field implementation.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Experience in project management and field implementation.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Docs.
  • Some knowledge of SurveyCTO or similar data collection platforms.
  • Fluency in Bengali and English (spoken and written); Hindi fluency is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Knowledge of rising temperatures and its impact, preferred.
